This Is Us: Sophia Bush and Pamela Adlon to recur in season 4

Sophia Bush and Pamela Adlon are heading to This Is Us!

The hit NBC series is about to get some new faces. Deadline reports Sophia Bush and Pamela Adlon are set to recur for the rest of this season. Dan Fogelman, the showrunner and creator of This Is Us, revealed which storylines the new characters will join but remain tight-lipped about who they’ll actually be playing.

This Is Us will return from hiatus tomorrow, and Adlon is set to take part in Randall’s arc. At the TCA panel, Sterling K. Brown teased that Randall will be shifting a bit more focus to his mental health. Fogelman also said Adlon would have a “limited but very important part of that story”.

Meanwhile, who Bush will be playing has inspired a barrage of This Is Us fan theories. The season 3 finale set up the teaser that Kevin will eventually have a son in the future timeline, which has left the mystery regarding who the mother is. So far, there have been a few suspects including Sophie and Cassidy. Fogelman did confirm Bush will indeed be a part of Kevin’s storyline but naturally, he won’t answer if she’s the mystery mother.

Luckily, fans won’t have to wait too long to find out who she is. Fogelman teased the mystery will be solved by the end of the season.

"“The story who is the mother of Kevin’s child and all that journey will be a story in the back half of the season, and there will be an answer by the end of the season.”"

Pamela Adlon is well known for her long history in comedy as well as her critically acclaimed FX series, Better Things. Sophia Bush rose to fame from One Tree Hill but has since become more notable for her outreach efforts. She is set to recur on the upcoming Disney+ series, Love, Simon.
