Killing Eve: Season 3 tragedy and release month announced
By Luke Lucas
It sounds like Eve and Villanelle are going to be drawn together in season 3 of Killing Eve. We’ve got all the synopsis info and release month info!
Killing Eve ended its second season with a bang. Eve (Sandra Oh) was conned by her boss Carolyn (Fiona Shaw) and assassin matchmaker Konstantin (Kim Bodnia) into using her relationship with Villanelle (Jodie Comer) to kill a global tech mogul. Eve and Villanelle got out with their lives. But, Eve balked at going on the run with the one true lethal weapon. Feeling rejected, Villanelle got revenge for her stab wound in season one and shot Eve. She’s surgical with a weapon, so I’m sure Villanelle didn’t shoot to kill. Eve will have all kinds of pain, but I was never in any doubt that Eve would survive.
A Deadline report from the Winter TCAs confirmed as much. Season three of Killing Eve will start with Eve and Villanelle painfully separated. Every fiber in their beings is drawn to each other. A tragedy that affects them both profoundly is said to bring them back together.
That sounds like a few episodes will pass before the reunion. So, that tragedy likely does not involve Eve’s estranged husband Niko (Owen McDonnell). The last time we saw him, poor Niko was trapped in a storage unit with his dead girlfriend Gemma (Owen McDonnell). She died at the hands of Villanelle. This will likely separate Eve farther from Niko and any real support system that she had.
The other person that both women have in common is Konstantin. That makes me worried that he, and perhaps Carolyn, are harmed in some horrific way. If anything happens to Konstantin’s daughter Irina (Yuli Lagodinsky), I’d be happy to help Eve and Villanelle in any revenge mission. Irina is hardcore good people. (Always remember: language is information and information is everything.)
We will have to wait until Killing Eve returns to BBC America and AMC this April. There’s no date or time, yet. But here’s hoping that it’s at the beginning of the month. Sunday’s just haven’t been the same without Eve, Villanelle, and the music of Unloved. Per the Deadline report, the lead writer and executive producer of the new season is Suzanne Heathcote (Fear the Walking Dead, See). I can’t wait to see what the dynamic dup gets into this season!
