Amazon’s The Power finds another lead!

The upcoming sci-fi adaptation, based on the hit novel by Naomi Alderman, is beginning to expand its cast. Deadline reports The Power has added Eddie Marsan opposite of the already cast Leslie Mann.

The Power is about a world where teenage girls inexplicably develop the ability to electrocute people. However, things get even more thrilling when the teenagers realize that they’re able to help women of any age get the same power. The series, and the novel, follow various women around the world and how these new abilities affect both themselves and the people around them.

Marsan is set to play a character named Bernie Monke, the father of one of the main characters and a North London crime boss. His relationship with his daughter, Roxy, is changed and complicated as she gets her power. According to his character description, Bernie is ruled by his own “moral logic” which makes him sound more layered than just an average criminal.

Currently, Marsan is well known for his role on Showtime’s Ray Donovan, however, an eighth season has yet to be announced. He can also be seen in the upcoming movie, Flag Day, with Sean Penn and Josh Brolin.
