February may be a short month, but Netflix isn’t skimping on the new originals and returning favorites. Long-awaited adaptations of beloved comics share the line up with highly anticipated returns and new genre narratives. Here’s what’s new this month on Netflix.

Locke and Key: Season One – February 7

Locke and Key, Joe Hill’s bestselling comic series, has had a long and cursed history when it comes to its journey to screen. In fact, it’s taken about a decade of failed pitches and pilots before it finally landed at Netflix. The series, now showrun by Meredith Averill (The Haunting of Hill House) and Carlton Cuse (Bates Motel), was once the passion project of Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Fringe). And if you know anything about me, you know that I love Fringe, so naturally, I am intrigued by a reality in which the former producing team gets to realize their vision.

The story follows three siblings who move back to their ancestral home in Massachusetts following the death of their father. There, they discover a variety of keys that give them supernatural powers. Locke and Key stars Jackson Robert Scott, Connor Jessup, and Emilia Jones as the Locke siblings. You may recognize Scott as Georgie from the recent IT films and is one of the only remnants from the time when the series was meant to be showrun by IT director Andy Muschietti. Yes, it really has had a long and storied production history.
