Amazon’s Goliath adds Geoffrey Arend and Brandon Scott to season 4 cast

Amazon Prime’s Goliath has added Geoffrey Arend and Brandon Scott as series regulars to the show’s fourth and final season.

Amazon Prime’s Goliath is going out with a bang as the series has added Geoffrey Arend (Madam Secretary) and Brandon Scott (This Is Us) to the cast of season four, starring alongside Billy Bob Thornton’s Billy McBride. Arend and Scott join the previously announced recurring cast members Obba Babatundé (Dear White People) and Elias Koteas (The Killing).

Goliath, created by David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies) and Jonathan Shapiro (Mr. Mercedes), is going into its fourth and final season after having been Amazon Prime’s first big original hit. The show follows down and out lawyer Billy McBride (Billy Bob Thornton) as he represents small fry clients against titans of industry and corporate giants. Last season saw McBride go up against a big-time rancher (Dennis Quaid) and his sister (Amy Brenneman) as they schemed to monopolize the water rights in the region. Season three ended on a cliffhanger as McBride fought for his life after being shot.

The plot details about season four are pretty slim, but showrunner Lawrence Trilling teases that it will be a case that “tackles a timely global crisis impacting an entire generation.” Since Babatundé is said to recur as the CEO of Tillinger Health, its possible that the major case has something to do with the health care industry. Arend will appear as the main defense attorney in the case, while Scott plays a senior associate of white-shoe law firm Margolis & True, and Koteas will play Tom True, the co-founding member of the same law firm. Series regulars Nina Arianda (Stan & Ollie), Tania Raymonde (Cliffs of Freedom), Diana Hopper (Bit) and Julie Brister (Review) return alongside Thornton.

While no release date has been announced yet, Amazon Studios has said the season will premiere in 2020. Among all the reasons to be excited about this season of Goliath, Elias Koteas is at the top of the list for me. He is such an interesting actor and adds such a complex dynamic to anything he’s in. While I especially loved him in The Killing, David Cronenberg’s Crash, and his guest-starring role on House, he’ll always be Casey Jones from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) to me.
