Halston adds Krysta Rodriguez to the cast!

The upcoming Netflix limited series, Halston, has found its Liza Minelli. According to Deadline, the Ryan Murphy series has added Krysta Rodriguez to the ensemble to play the infamous actress/singer.

Ewan McGregor is already set to play the titular character, Halston, based on the real-life designer.  Meanwhile, Liza Minelli is known to be the designer’s muse, which makes Rodriguez’s casting paramount to the series. Minelli is a well-known singer and actress, who is infamous for her role in Cabaret, for which she won an Academy Award.

Krysta Rodriguez is also a dual performer as a Broadway actress and singer, however, has risen to fame thanks to her television roles. She starred in the second season of NBC’s Smash, the first season of the critically underrated Trial & Error, and recently could be seen on Netflix’s Daybreak. Joining this project extends her time at the streaming service, and makes us wonder if she’ll pop up in more shows for Netflix.

Netflix has been keeping a tight lid on the details regarding the limited series. According to Deadline, the project may have changed once Ryan Murphy came on board after his deal with the streaming service. Originally, it was set to be written by Sharr White and directed by Dan Minahan, but it’s unclear if the two are still involved in the project.
