Who will be joining the season 2 cast of Netflix series The Witcher? 7 new additions have been declared.  Here’s a quick glimpse!

Though not universally acclaimed, The Witcher is still definitely a hit series. Netflix was very quick to announce a second season, and we already know 7 people slated to join the cast. They are Yasen Atour as Coën. IMDb notes:

"“Yasen Atour is an actor and producer, known for Ben-Hur (2016), Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation (2015) and Robin Hood (2018).”"

As described in The Official Witcher Wiki, Coën:

"“…was a witcher from Poviss who spent his first winter at Kaer Morhen when Ciri was in the keep. He trained Ciri in sword combat.”"

Paul Bullion will appear as Lambert. Bullion is a British actor best known for BBC’s Peaky Blinders and The Bastard Executioner for FX.  Lambert is a Witcher. The Wiki describes him as “one of the younger witchers from Kaer Morhen,” who is “Known for his biting tongue…often rude in conversation.”

Obviously, Henry Cavill’s character, Geralt of Rivia, is himself a rather brusque person. Is Lambert even more so? It looks like we’ll have to stay tuned.  Thue Ersted Rasmussen will play Eskel. Rasmussen is known for F9 (2020), Sunday (2019) and The Way to Mandalay (2018)  Eskel is yet another Witcher, though he is apparently “calm and reasonable” compared to some others. He apparently also gets along well with Geralt of Rivia and has known him since childhood. Game of Thrones‘ Kristofer Hivju will play Nivellen, a cursed man.

The ladies and the directors

Not all of the new characters are male. The Witcher will also add Agnes Born as Vereena. Born is an actress, known for Monster (2017). In The Witcher lore, Vereena is a variety of vampire called a Bruxa.  Aisha Fabienne Ross will star as Lydia. Ross is known for The Danish Girl (2015), Alleycats (2016), and Fat Legs (2015). Presumably, her character’s full name is Lydia van Bredevoort and she’s a sorceress. The other addition is British model Mecia Simson as Francesca. It’s likely that Francesca is Francesca Findabair, an elf, sorceress, and the queen of the elves of Dol Blathanna.

10 Netflix originals to leap into this February. dark. Next

The Witcher season 2 directors will include Stephen Surjik, known for The Umbrella Academy (2019), The Punisher (2017) and Lost in Space (2018). There’s also Sarah O’Gorman, known for Cursed (2020), Jamestown (2019), and No Offence (2019). Ed Bazalgette, known for Doctor Who (2015-16) and Poldark (2015). Last but not least is Geeta Patel, known for Meet the Patels (2014).
