Fresh off the success of its currently airing Season 4, HBO and Issa Rae’s hit comedy series Insecure has landed a Season 5 renewal.
Despite being in the middle of airing its ten-episode fourth season, HBO has gone ahead and renewed its successful comedy series Insecure for a Season 5.
“We’re thrilled that Issa, Prentice, and the whole Insecure team will be getting back together for a fifth season. As we laugh and cringe with recognition, their stories make us all feel a little less alone in the world,” said Amy Gravitt, the executive vice president of HBO Programming in the network’s official press release.
Fans of Insecure know the show is renowned for its ability to tackle realistic and often uncomfortable topics with acute writing and compelling performances. Issa Rae has been nominated for multiple awards for her work on the series.

Insecure follows Rae’s character, Issa Dee, and her best friend Molly (Orji) as they thrive in Los Angeles.
Since the early days, Issa has quit her job and begun pursuing a new venture while Molly has recently gotten involved in her first long-term relationship.
It is not clear when Season 5 will premiere as the show’s star is a highly sought after entertainer in Hollywood. Vulture reported that Season 4 was postponed until 2020 due to her busy schedule. Along with the current shutdowns, fans might have to wait a while before the next season airs, but at least they won’t have to worry about Season 4 being the last!
