Between serial killers and Victorian-era gothic horror, Showtime has a wide variety of great content. We’re ranking the 14 best Showtime shows.

We’re living in the golden age of television, which means there is a myriad of fantastic options to choose from, often available on streaming. For this piece, we’re taking a look at some of the best Showtime shows currently available to stream.

All of the shows listed are available on the Showtime app, and some are also available elsewhere.

14. Dexter

Dexter is a unique crime drama following a blood splatter expert based in Miami who moonlights as a serial killer. But there is a catch. Dexter Morgan is more like a vigilante-style serial killer. He only targets people he deems evil.

Still, we’ve got to call a spade a spade, Dexter is a serial killer, and that means he comes up against a lot of enemies throughout the series. He has to dodge cops who begin catching on to his pile of bodies and even other serial killers who infringe upon his territory and target innocents.

It’s an addicting show full of explosive twists and dark content. Many shows have used Dexter as inspiration. Dexter is also streaming on Netflix.

13. The L Word

The L Word is a soapy guilty pleasure that tells the story of lesbians and bisexuals living in Los Angeles.

Unfortunately, the original run of The L Word was marred by some controversy, and it wasn’t always the most sensitive, even to groups within the LGBTQIA+ community. That said, it is still a fun and addicting series to watch and very easy to get sucked into.

Despite its faults, The L Word had a lot of lovable characters and outlandish plots to keep people watching. The sexy series even received a  new iteration called The L Word: Generation Q, which started airing recently and is also available to watch on Showtime. The series is also available to stream on Hulu.
