2. The Tudors
Like The Borgias, The Tudors is another fun, soapy period drama perfect for binge-watching. Plus, it stars two household names — Superman himself, Henry Cavill, and Game of Thrones‘ Natalie Dormer. The Tudors helped put Dormer’s name on the map in Hollywood, as many were impressed with her performance as Anne Boleyn.
The Tudors focused on King Henry VIII’s nearly 40-year reign of England. Not only did it include the famous story of Anne, but it also introduces prominent historical figures like Catherine of Aragorn and more.
1. The United States of Tara
The United States of Tara is probably one of the premium cable network’s most underrated television series, but it is still one of the best Showtime shows.
If you’re a Toni Collette fan — and who in their right mind wouldn’t be? — then you can’t miss out on this series that has her playing a woman struggling with a dissociative identity disorder. It also stars Captain Marvel herself, Brie Larson, and everyone’s favorite hot dad, John Corbett.
Collette plays Tara Gregson, a typical housewife, aside from her DID diagnosis. She lives with her loving husband, and two teenage kids, who all try to cope with her revolving “alters” the best they can.
When the series begins, Tara has three main alters, a flirtatious teenager named “T,” a Vietnam veteran with violent tendencies named Buck, and 1950s mom named Alice.
