Harley Quinn Season 2, Episode 7: 3 key moments
Harley Quinn Season 2’s newest episode has some major turning points for characters, especially one that will make some fans really happy.
“There’s No Place to Go But Down” has huge turning points for a few of the characters in Harley Quinn Season 2. We see Harley and Poison being sentenced to prison for life, and Gordon and Batgirl take on a mission together. This is, by far, one of the best episodes and will definitely take the series even further. Here are three key takeaway points from the episode!
Harley and Poison are sentenced for life
Remember when our favorite duo got arrested by Two-Face last week? Harley Quinn Season 2’s “There’s No Place to Go But Down” starts us off in the middle of their trial. Bane takes the role of judge, Two-Face as the prosecutor, and Manbat as their bat-speaking lawyer. What could go wrong?
Everything. The two are sentenced to prison for “killing Oswald Cobblepot and other stuff.” At first, they’re confident about being able to escape, seeing as they’ve managed to escape Arkham Asylum multiple times. But then they discover that their prison is actually a pit (affectionately called The Pit) and Bane is the warden.
Bane shares with the newest inmates that inside of The Pit they focus on channeling their anger into something productive. Killer Croc spends his time watercolor painting and knitting hats. Bane also shares that The Pit will be hosting their first annual talent show, with George Lopez as a special guest. This triggers several ideas in our anti-hero’s mind. Harley decides that she’ll do a stand-up comedy act to start a riot, that will serve as a distraction as she and Poison escape on Lopez’s helicopter.
However, when the talent show arrives, Bane takes notice that Harley didn’t make her bed and as punishment, he bans her from taking part in the show. This leaves Poison Ivy to takeover the stand-up comedy act plan, which she absolutely fails at. After finally giving up, she starts to speak from her heart and it’s at this point that the inmates realize that they do not want to be trapped in a pit with Bane. In a shockingly nice moment, the inmates come together to make their escape.
Barbara tells her father that she’s Batgirl
We get to witness Jim Gordon and Batgirl on their first mission together; this time they’re going through the sewers in search of Ratcatcher who’s been using the underground tunnels to move guns. It’s obvious that the two aren’t working well together, but it’s made heartbreakingly known when Jim tells an unmasked Barbara that he’s thinking about flying solo.
During dinner, Two-Face and his goons interrupt the Gordons’ conversation about Jim’s drinking problem. Apparently, Ratcatcher has been working for Two-Face, and he’s not happy that Gordon is trying to halt weapon sales. After it seems that things are going to permanently end for Jim, Batgirl arrives to save the day.
Batgirl’s arrival gets Two-Face to leave as he thought this was only a “two-goons job.” Jim questions Batgirl as to why she would ever bother to save him, which turns into Batgirl revealing that she’s Barbara Gordon. Jim proudly announces, “that’s my girl.”
Things are looking up for the Gordons, as they flush out Jim’s alcohol stash and he returns to the GCPD to get his “home” back. During a battle with Two-Face at the department, he manages to arrest him and lets him know that he is officially back.
Harley and Poison’s relationship takes a turn
A lot of us, myself included, have been waiting for a certain something to happen between the characters, especially as it’s already been hinted to. I’m so beyond excited to say that it has finally happened. Harley Quinn Season 2’s latest episode ends with an intimate kiss between Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn.
During the trial, Poison Ivy is called up as a witness against Harley, and although Harley told her that she wanted to take the fall so that Poison can continue her life with Kite Man, Poison openly admits that she also played a hand in Cobblepot’s death. There was absolutely no way she would let Harley go to prison on her own, especially as they are a team.
When they finally are able to make their escape from The Pit, Harley Quinn releases her grip from Poison Ivy who’s lifting them up with her plants. That is after Harley tells Poison that she loves her. Could be platonic right? Nah. This sacrifice has Quinn falling back into the pit, but once again, she is saved by Poison Ivy. Ivy pulls her out and the two fall into an intimate embrace that leaves them both shocked.
