The Umbrella Academy: 7 burning questions Season 3 needs to answer
By Mads Lennon
6. The Umbrella Academy Season 3 questions: Is Harlan a member of the Sparrow Academy?
In the past few days, an intriguing theory connecting Harlan to the Sparrow Academy has emerged within the fandom. Elite Daily summarizes the details nicely in their article. We know the Hargreeves deeply affected the timeline by existing in the 1960s and interacting with people there, because of their conversations with Reginald, they influenced him to create the Sparrow Academy, for instance.
Vanya also impacted Harlan’s life by accidentally giving him some of her powers. Despite taking them back, at least some of her abilities still reside within him as he’s shown making a toy bird levitate in his final moments as Sissy drives him to their new life in California. Does it mean anything?
He carries the toy bird with him all season, so it might not correlate to Sparrow Academy at all. One also has to consider that Harlan is not one of the mysterious babies born in 1989, so would Reginald even know of his existence or be interested in recruiting him? It’s hard to say. Perhaps they cross paths when Harlan goes looking for Vanya in the future. Right now, it’s still too early to tell.
5. The Umbrella Academy Season 3 questions: Where is Lila? Will we see her again?
Lila Pitts was one of the best new additions to the cast in the second season. Her relationship with Diego was one of the high points of the season and many fans are eager and hopeful we’ll get to see the two of them reunite.
Lila seemed to be on the verge of accepting the Hargreeves as her new family before chaos broke out in the barn and she slipped out of the timeline with a Commission briefcase. The good news is, she’s very likely to return in Season 3. Her character has been an instant hit with fans and there are a lot of ways they could continue to explore her character, especially her fascinating mimic ability.
The Hargreeves might need a powerful ally like her to face-off against the Sparrow Academy and their newly revived father and brother. Not only that, but I think Lila and Diego should stick, even if it’s complicated and messy.
