Penny Dreadful: City of Angels Season 2: Will fans get more episodes?
By Mads Lennon
Penny Dreadful: City of Angels Season 2 will not happen at Showtime.
Unfortunately, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels Season 2 is not going to happen at Showtime after a lackluster first season. According to a statement from the network, Showtime has simply opted not to move forward with another season but did not give a specific reason as to why Deadline reported.
They extended gratitude to the entire cast and crew of the show, but for those anticipating more details on their decision, expect to be disappointed. That said, it is not that difficult to see why Showtime might have chosen not to give Penny Dreadful: City of Angels Season 2 the green light.

Despite fans of the original Penny Dreadful being ecstatic at the prospect of a spin-off, City of Angels failed to live up to its reputation. Natalie Dormer was the sole saving grace of the season, beyond that, it really had no business touting the “Penny Dreadful” name at all.
My personal opinions aside, critics did not love the series and it did not seem to attract a strong and dedicated fanbase as the old Eva Green-led show did.
All of these factors compiled together make for a compelling case as to why Penny Dreadfuls: City of Angels Season 2 will not be happening.
Could Penny Dreadful: City of Angels Season 2 move forward somewhere else?
Is it possible that Penny Dreadful: City of Angels Season 2 could come to fruition at another premium cable network or streaming service? Maybe, but not super likely. Penny Dreadful is streaming on Netflix, so if it were going anywhere, it would probably be there or possibly Amazon Prime Video.
However, I think the odds are pretty slim since “The Dreadfuls” did not exactly turn up in droves to support this show and it failed to get any awards attention.
