Titans Season 3: New Characters Announced at DC FanDome
By Louis Skye
Titans Season 3 is bringing fan-favorite characters to life.
The Titans are going to have their work cut out in Titans Season 3, with familiar villains appearing, along with a new threat on their horizon, as revealed at DC FanDome.
Executive producer Greg Walker shared plans for Titans Season 3 during the panel discussion—news so fresh that even the cast was shocked.
We already know that Barbara Gordon will be appearing in the next installment of the show, and now we know that Dr. Jonathan Crane, aka Scarecrow, will be one of the season’s villains.
Excitingly for fans, Curran Walters’ Jason Todd is set to become his anti-hero alter-ego, Red Hood. Walters has been keen on portraying Red Hood for a while, and it looks like he’s finally getting to portray the version of the character fans know so well.
Titans Season 3: What We Know So Far
Walker and the cast shared very few details about the actual story but according to the DC FanDome press release, the Titans team will be heading to Gotham City in Titans Season 3. They had spent most of the second season in San Francisco in Titans Tower, but that hideout was compromised.
The move to Gotham explains why Scarecrow—an old nemesis of Batman and Robin—will play a major role in the season. According to the press release, Scarecrow is already an inmate at Arkham Asylum but is a consultant for the Gotham City Police.
Damaris Lewis’ Blackfire will be a villain on Titans Season 3 but apparently not for long. Walker revealed that partway through the season, Blackfire will have resolved her issues with her sister, Starfire (Anna Diop), and will even have a room in Wayne Manor.
Barbara Gordon’s presence in the show also becomes clear due to the change in location—according to the release, Gordon will have taken over the mantle of Commissioner from her father. Her long-standing friendship with Dick Grayson will also be explored, but fans can expect to see some tension between Gordon and the Titans.
Red Hood’s appearance has been teased since the second season so Titans Season 3 will be a bit of a payoff for fans.
Walker referred to the finale of season two when Jason Todd—who had survived an attack by Deathstroke but been betrayed by his partner, Ravager—pointedly left the Titans for parts unknown.
This act will directly lead to him becoming Red Hood, explained Walker in the panel, and the Titans can expect to face off against their old teammate.
Filming on Titans Season 3 was halted due to the pandemic, but the writing team has a clear vision of where they want to go with the story. Fans will be waiting with bated breath for the release of the next season.
