What are the best shows from summer 2020?

We’re coming close to the end of the season, and we started thinking about all of the best shows from summer 2020.

Even though we’re still about a month away from the official start of fall, I felt like we had an excellent summer of television, which is surprising because the pandemic caused a lot of productions to shut down. Still, from comedies to high-concept dramas, the summer of 2020 did deliver on the goods!

10. Best Shows From Summer 2020: Ramy Season 2

Technically, we’re cheating by adding Ramy Season 2 into this list because it was released at the end of May before summer officially kicked off. But I felt like it came out close enough to be considered part of the summer line-up, and it was so great and critically-acclaimed, it seemed like a shame to skip it.

If you liked Ramy‘s first season, then you probably loved the second season of the series. In my opinion, it did a lot of things better than the first season. It was funnier, darker, and the addition of Mahershala Ali was great for the show. I look forward to seeing where it goes for its third season.

9. Best Shows From Summer 2020: The Umbrella Academy Season 2

I’ll be the first to admit that I was not all that impressed by The Umbrella Academy‘s first season. The series is an unconventional superhero story based on the graphic novels of the same name by My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way.

I thought the first season was a little too slow-paced and all over the place, but Season 2 cut down the runtime of its episodes and was much better paced. Overall, it was an excellent installment in the series that made me eager for more and cemented my love for the Hargreeve siblings — particularly Diego.
