P-Valley breakout star Shannon Thornton teases Keyshawn’s story.

After a week-long break, new episodes of P-Valley will be back tomorrow on Starz. To celebrate the critically-acclaimed drama’s return, breakout star Shannon Thornton — who plays Keyshawn a.k.a. Mississippi — chatted with TVLine about what fans can expect from her Season 1 arc and dropped some hints for Season 2!

P-Valley: What’s the deal with Keyshawn & Lil’ Murda?

For those who thought Keyshawn wasn’t as savvy as someone like Mercedes, she proved them wrong when she decided to take advantage of her knowledge regarding Uncle Clifford and Lil’ Murda’s relationship. While Keyshawn never drops the “blackmail” word, it does seem to percolate in the background of their interactions.

Thornton admitted that everything Keyshawn is doing with the rapper is “all for her,” she’s using his precarious position to highlight her recent burst of fame after taking over for Mercedes on the night of what was supposed to be her last dance.

She even admitted that there was a chance she could wind up outing him if he doesn’t play his cards right.

For now, the fake relationship is mutually beneficial, allowing Murda a cover and adding a boost to his new song, but could things fall apart for the two in the next few episodes?

P-Valley: How will Derrick feel about her getting close to Murda?

According to the interview, Thornton said Derrick would continue getting increasingly jealous of her growing spotlight and notoriety. Even if her relationship with Murda isn’t real, that doesn’t mean he’s going to be pleased with her spending so much time with him in the public eye. We know that Derrick is abusive, so this could spell a recipe for disaster.

Finally, TVLine reporter Kimberly Roots asked Thornton about a “unique way” Keyshawn helps Murda get over some stage fright in the next episode of P-Valley.

It’s not clear exactly what she does, but to tease the moment, Thornton laughed and said, “She just wants him to, you know, bare his soul in a very unconventional way.”

What could that mean? I have a feeling it might be something sexual, but I guess we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out!
