Doom Patrol Season 3 has been confirmed after two successful seasons. The show will be streaming on HBO Max, after a move from DC Universe in 2020.

DC superhero fans have reason to be excited—Doom Patrol Season 3 will be streaming on HBO Max, according to a press release issued shortly before the start of the second half of DC FanDome.

The unusual superhero show has gained legions of fans since its quirky opening season debuted on DC Universe in 2019—and won over even more viewers with its second outing that streamed during the early months of the pandemic.

Jeremy Carver, executive producer of the show said this of Doom Patrol Season 3: “On behalf of the wonderful cast, writers and crew, we are thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to return to Doom Manor.”

Shoshana Sachi, a story editor on the show, also shared her joy at the renewal announcement on Twitter with a host of happy emojis.

Doom Patrol Season 3 will be produced by Berlanti Productions, Warner Bros. Television, and HBO Max. The show moved to HBO Max from its host platform, DC Universe, in 2020.

Doom Patrol Season 3: What’s Happened So Far?

Season 1 of Doom Patrol saw the misfit group of superheroes come together to battle an omnipotent evil. The team is led by de-facto leader Victor Stone/ Cyborg (Joivan Wade), and comprises Cliff Steele/ Robotman (Brendan Fraser), Larry Trainor/ Negative Man (Matt Bomer), Jane/ Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero), Rita Farr/ Elasti-Woman (April Bowlby).

The creator of the team, Niles Caulder/ The Chief (Timothy Dalton), had gone missing in the first installment. During the second season, fans were given more of the character, especially as he bonded with his daughter, Dorothy Spinner (Abigail Shapiro), a child of immense imagination and power, who The Chief had tried to control for years, only for that tactic to backfire on him.

When last we saw the team, they had succumbed to the Candlemaker—a powerful being imagined into life by Dorothy.

Presumably, by the time Doom Patrol Season 3 comes around, the team will have returned to the land of the living somehow.

From the teaser promo available on the DC press site, it seems that at least Negative Man, Elasti-Woman, Robotman, Jane, and Cyborg will be back—although, in the promo, they are disintegrated by a huge robot.

So, Doom Patrol will be back, but then they’ll die again? Considering this isn’t the first time these characters have ‘died’, we’re sure they’ll be fine!
