According to the release, Cruz is quite the personality—having survived an alien encounter as a child, she becomes a tech genius inventing alien-repelling weapons.
But she also learns that she can communicate telepathically with aliens—a skill that makes her an asset for the Waverider team, who in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Season 6 will be hunting down aliens dispersed throughout history.
The release also confirmed that space aliens will be the primary antagonists of the sixth season, which is why Cruz will be an integral part of the story—if she does, in fact, have the abilities she purports to have. Considering this is the Legends, anything is possible.
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Season 6: What Can We Expect?
The alien storyline for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Season 6 was hinted at during the final moments of the previous season when Captain Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) was abducted after a raucous farewell party for a departing team member.
During the DC FanDome panel, the writers and producers shared that Sara would be going on her own adventure during the abduction, leaving the Waverider in disarray. While Sara’s partner, Ava Sharpe (Jes Macallan) will take over as leader of the ship, Sara’s disappearance will weigh heavily on her. Other team members will be stepping up in leadership roles as a result.
The writers also mentioned that Cruz won’t fit into the ship dynamic immediately—which should make for interesting viewing.
Zari Tarazi actor Tala Ashe and Sobhian—who play siblings—spoke about wanting to explore their characters more in the upcoming season. Executive Producer Keto Shimizu confirmed that they will be delving into the sibling dynamic.
Shimizu also spoke about Nate Heywood (Nick Zano), who has had a very difficult arc on the show so far. Nate’s partner Amaya Jiwe (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) had to go back to her time, and his second partner, Zari Tomaz, became a guardian of her totem. He also lost his father, and his best friend, Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), left the Waverider for married bliss.
According to Shimizu, Nate might be catching a break of some sort in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Season 6. What that might be, is yet to be revealed.
Swann and Matt Ryan, who plays John Constantine, spoke about how their characters will be living together, which should make for a fascinating arc for both characters. Constantine’s actions led to Astra being trapped in hell as a child and she swore revenge on him—even stealing his soul.
Though they’ve put that history behind them, there will be some antagonism between the characters that fans can look forward to.
It looks like DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Season 6 is set for more temporal hijinks and wonderful character moments that have defined the show for the last five installments. Fans have reason to be excited.
