WandaVision: Teaser Trailer Shares First Look at Marvel Show
By Louis Skye
WandaVision is set to debut on Disney Plus, with a new teaser trailer being released showing heretofore unseen footage from the show.
Marvel Cinematic Universe fans are finally going to get some content in 2020—Disney Plus has just released a trailer for WandaVision.
Almost all Disney Plus content was put on hold due to the pandemic—though The Mandalorian completed production and is slated for an October release.
Other Marvel shows did stop production and their release dates were changed from this year to 2021. Though The Falcon and the Winter Soldier resumed filming in September, the show is unlikely to be completed this year. Loki and What/ If are also set for 2021 releases.
The WandaVision trailer comes on the heels of an announcement that WandaVision would be the first original Marvel show on Disney Plus.
The news was confirmed again via a Disney Plus tweet for the trailer which mentioned that the show would be coming soon.
A date for WandaVision’s release has yet to be shared by the streaming platform.
WandaVision: What Can We Expect to See?
The trailer for WandaVision is nothing short of quirky and mysterious. Wanda Maximoff (Elisabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) are seen in homely 1950s settings—the picture of domestic coupledom. We also see them in 80s-era clothing later.
In the trailer, Vision often looks human—as he did in Avengers: Infinity War—but could it be magic, Wanda’s powers, or an image-inducer that creates that effect on the show?
WandaVision also features nosy guests with a few too many questions—none of which Wanda or Vision are able to answer. This could be a clue as to the nature of the show—what we’re seeing may not be real, or it could be an alternate reality.
We see our first glimpses of Wanda and Vision’s twins—Thomas and William—but whether or not they are real remains to be seen.
There are several moments with an unnamed character played by Kathryn Hahn—she appears in the 50’s setting but she is also animated by Vision who tells him they’re both dead. Does this mean that WandaVision is taking place in some kind of afterlife or in Wanda’s imagination?
The trailer includes a blink and you’ll miss it moment of Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau, but there’s little to go on there. Nothing for Kat Dennings’ Darcy Lewis, who is listed in the cast, and featured in the official cast announcement.
We get to see not only Wanda in her OG comics costume but also Vision. How those costumes fit into the show isn’t clear—it could be a joke, a Halloween episode, or an alternate reality.
There is so much mystery surrounding this show and it’s only deepened by this new trailer. What will this show be about? Is Vision dead or alive? How are the couple in so many different eras?
Fans will be waiting with bated breath to find out once WandaVision is released.
