Joshua Jackson is taking over for Jamie Dornan in the leading role of Peacock TV’s limited series Dr. Death.

According to a new report from TVLine, Joshua Jackson, of Fringe and Dawson’s Creek fame, will replace Jamie Dornan as the leading role in the upcoming limited series Dr. Death from Peacock TV. According to a spokesperson from the streaming service, Dornan had to drop out due to production delays relating to the coronavirus pandemic.

Chris Sullivan (This Is Us) has also backed out of the project due to COVID-related production conflicts. Dominic Burgess (The Magicians) will replace him in the role and co-star alongside Jackson.

Aside from Burgess and Jackson, the cast of the upcoming crime drama also includes Christian Slater, AnnaSophia Robb, Grace Gummer and Molly Griggs.

Based on the podcast of the same name, Dr. Death tells the true story of a rising doctor in the Dallas medical community. Dr. Christopher Duntsch (Jackson) is a charming, brilliant neurosurgeon with a popular practice.

But then something strange and ominous starts happening to the doctor’s patients. People undergoing routine surgeries in Dr. Duntsch’s office begin getting maimed, or worse, dying.

As more and more victims pile up, two fellow doctors, neurosurgeon Robert Henderson (Baldwin) and vascular surgeon Randall Kirby (Slater), become determined to do everything in their power to stop him.

In the real story, Dr. Duntsch was convicted of gross malpractice after he left 31 different patients injured. Two of them died under his care. The 2018 podcast stems from Wondery, the same network that gave us Dirty John, another terrifying story about a deadly con man.
