Jack’s fate is revealed in the latest episode of Supernatural Season 15 as Sam and Dean try to win Amara over.

After seven long months, the latest episode of Supernatural Season 15 not only finally gave Castiel back to fans but also had the entire episode centered heavily on Castiel and Jack, although it didn’t end on a happy note.

‘Gimme Shelter’ finds Cass and Jack solving a horrifying yet mundane murder mystery on their own in a very “Highway to Heaven” way as the show refers to the NBC drama of the late 80s itself.

Supernatural Season 15, Episode 15 recap: Agent Swift and Agent Lovato

Castiel and Jack stormed the castle in a very boppy manner with their aliases being Agent Swift and Agent Lovato. Although the Sherrif sure loved to point out that Jack looked more like Baby Yoda than an FBI Agent.

The case concerned the gruesome murders of the members of a faith-based group run by a pastor (Steve Bacic), the members of the church are being taken out one by one for their ‘sins’ and while it looked like it was some demonic case, it turned out that it was rather a case of bad parenting as the pastor’s daughter, Sylvie, also a member of the faith group, was the one killing the other members all along to pass god’s judgment upon them.

Cass and Jack figured it out right in the midst of her trying to kill the pastor aka her father for not being able to help her dying mom. But the boys swoop in and saved the day.

And Cass did his angel stuff while the pastor realizes that he should have been looking out for his daughter all along rather than being absent and it is never too late so he’ll help her in whatever way he can from now on.

Fun fact though, the pastor is the same actor who also played Dr. Sexy in one of the best and most bizarre episodes of Supernatural, “Changing Channels.” And somebody also pointed out to me that the actress who played Sylvie had also guest-starred previously, and yes, she had previously guest-starred back in Season 2.

Also on a side note, we got to find out that crossroad deals with demons are no longer a thing since Rowena has a strict philosophy of leaving people just be because they will end up where they belong eventually. Hell has never been better.

Supernatural Season 15, Episode 15 recap: Sam and Dean recruit Amara

Meanwhile, Sam and Dean are in search of Amara, so they can try and convince her to help them in killing God, they would also have to kill her to maintain the cosmic balance and all, but for now, they are keeping this from her, obviously. Sam has his doubts about this plan but it’s not like there’s any other way.

Amara finds the Winchesters before they find her but completely refuses to help them because God is her brother after all, and she loves him.

In what was the strongest scene of the episode, Dean being Dean, refuses to give up and goes to ask Amara about why she brought Mary back, Amara explains to him that she wanted for Dean to see his mother for who she was, this real, complicated person, and not the version that he had built up on his head, glorified, and that this Mary was real and was always better.

She wanted him to accept his life and let go of any myths he had of a better life. Amara also thought that having his mother back would release Dean from his anger, though admittingly she failed at that. In a heated conversation, Dean makes a strong case of why Chuck is a swindler and that he doesn’t care at all for Amara. And, Dean’s efforts come fruitful as Amara agrees to think about it.

The episode ends with Jack confessing to Cass that he is hiding something from them and that Death’s spell has been turning him into a time bomb and he won’t make it out alive out of the final showdown, he refuses to let Cass tell Sam and Dean since he thinks this is the only way they’ll ever forgive him.

In the final moments, Cass goes off to find another way to save the world and tells Dean something that he and Sam should know if he doesn’t come back. Massive intrigue, now we are rolling.

While the episode offered great character moments between Cass and Jack and showed probably the only bit of normalcy before everything starts going sideways, there really wasn’t much to the case of the week front this week and it failed to pack a punch as well, nor did it matter much since we are all waiting for the big showdown with God.

With just 6 episodes left in Supernatural Season 15 aka the final season, you’d expect something much more flashy and epic to happen but that wasn’t the case this week.

Although Sam and Dean did actually make some progress in getting to the end game and the end of the episode sure made it seem like we are finally getting closer to the end and nobody might make it out alive, so fingers crossed that the next episode keeps up with the momentum and the coming episodes will take us back to the epicness of Season 5.
