A new threat rises in Titans Season 3. Fans of the DC Comics show now get their first look at the fan-favorite character, Red Hood.

He is here! Red Hood, the character we’ve all been waiting for, is making his live-action debut on Titans Season 3. And now we know what he’ll look like. TVLine has shared the first peek at the character’s costume for the upcoming season and it is very faithful to the comic books.

During DC FanDome, executive produce Greg Walker confirmed that Jason Todd would transform into Red Hood in the new season. Filming on Titans Season 3 resumed in Toronto recently, and actor Curran Walters was effusive about his new character and costume. Now we know why.

The publicity shots of the outfit are far too photoshopped to give an accurate representation of what the costume will look like in action. The initial shots of Brenton Thwaites’ Robin suit left some people ‘whelmed’, but the eventual look on the show was superb.

Titans has plenty of comic book-accurate costumes that look sleek on-screen, including those of Hawk and Dove, Wonder Girl, both Robins, and Nightwing. Red Hood is likely to follow suit.

Titans Season 3: What Do We Know About Red Hood?

Walters’ Jason Todd, aka Robin 2.0, was seen departing alone at the end of the second season, seemingly disillusioned by his team and feeling ostracized for his actions. He was also betrayed by his girlfriend Rose Wilson/ Ravager, so Jason is nursing a broken heart as well.

More from HBO Max

All this will lead to him becoming the villain Red Hood. In the comics, Jason Todd was killed as a young Robin (by the Joker), before he was resurrected by Ra’s al Ghul and Talia al Ghul using a Lazarus Pit. Will the showrunners of the HBO Max series go down a similar route, or give Red Hood a different origin story?

Jason Todd on Titans has been violent and over-the-top, which segues perfectly into Red Hood’s known violent tendencies. In the comics, the character often goes up against the rest of the Bat-family, but eventually works alongside them after forming a tenuous connection with his former family.

Red Hood will likely be a season villain on Titans Season 3, but fans can expect the character to turn over a new leaf and join the team once again.

Red Hood is only one of the new characters who will be making his debut on Titans Season 3. Commissioner Barbara Gordon is set to appear, alongside Dr. Jonathan Crane, aka the Batman villain, Scarecrow. Damaris Lewis’ Blackfire will also be a season regular.
