Saved by the Bell Season 1, Episode 3 recap: Mac & Jamie fight over a girl
By Mads Lennon
In the third episode of the rebooted Saved by the Bell, Mac and Jamie fight over the same girl.
Mac and Jamie are stunned when they both meet the “perfect” girl at school in the third episode of Peacock TV’s Saved by the Bell reboot, “The Bayside Triangle.” Unbeknownst to the two of them, their dream girl, Pamela (Amanda Giroux), is the same person. Daisy realizes that the boys are fighting over the same girl way before they do, but Lexi warns her not to get involved in the twisted web of Bayside romance.
Aisha also encourages Daisy to stay out of it because she thinks Daisy has been too judgmental of Bayside and its students ever since arriving. She even bets Daisy that she can’t go a week without saying something dismissive about the school. It doesn’t even last a day because Daisy can’t handle Mac and Jaime’s idiocy regarding Pamela. During a meet-up at the Max, she tells them they’re fighting over the same girl.

Mac thinks the best way to settle who should win her heart is via a gentleman’s prank war. Whoever wins gets to escort Pamela on a romantic date to the upcoming and highly-anticipated Bayside ice cream social.
Mac easily stays one step ahead of Jamie throughout the war, but again, Daisy interferes and tells Pamela to choose which boy she likes better. She picks Jamie. Lexi is the one who winds up most disappointed by Daisy’s meddling.
Her interference messed up Lexi’s scheme, or “Lexi-con,” as she calls them. Lexi has a crush on Jamie and hoped Mac would win Pamela’s heart. Then she could swoop in and comfort a heartbroken Jamie. Now her plan is foiled. Pamela doesn’t end up mattering in the grand scheme because at the ice cream social, Mac and Jamie get into an epic fight involving ice cream toppings that results in both of them getting a sitdown lecture from Slater.
He tells them their fight is actually very similar to the fights he used to have with their dads over… well, their moms. It’s a hilarious callback to the original Saved by the Bell. Jamie and Mac don’t take the message Slater anticipated from his advice, though. They realize that their fighting does matter in ways Slater didn’t realize — since technically, it could determine who becomes their future wife. It’s also a clever jab at how on television, people often marry their high school sweethearts even if that phenomenon is rather rare in real life.
Slater is left sitting mystified in his office as Mac and Jamie makeup and agree to be best friends again. As for Daisy and Lexi, Daisy apologizes for being judgy and promises Lexi she doesn’t plan to tell anyone about Lexi’s crush on Jamie. However, she does encourage her to tell him herself.
Saved by the Bell Season 1, Episode 3 recap: A theft leads to a Douglas student being accused.
As mentioned, the ice cream social is a big deal to Bayside students, but it is threatened to be canceled when a box of iPads are stolen. Principal Toddman tells the student body that unless the thief comes forward, the social will be canceled. He devices a “Snitches Get Riches” submission box raffle to encourage students to submit the name of the person they think stole the iPads. A randomly chosen winner will even receive a fancy new smart TV.
It becomes apparent that a lot of students think a Douglas student stole the iPads, which comes with all comes of ugly stereotyping and racist connotations. That said, Daisy and Aisha both conclude Devante probably did it because he pulled similar schemes at Douglas. When Aisha confronts Devante, he accuses her of trying to distance herself from him to impress her new white friends and avoid having all of the students look at them the same way.
When it is later revealed that the iPads weren’t stolen, after all, Aisha is forced to confront the truth. Devante might have been right. She and Daisy both realize that some people will always carry some prejudice and look at them differently.
Basically, those aren’t the people that should be in their lives, and it shouldn’t make them change who they are or turn against each other to try and fit in with students that can be so shallow and easily misled. She apologizes to Devante, who tells her that, yeah, he did do some bad things at Douglas, but just like Aisha, he’s looking for a fresh start at Bayside.
We also learn a little more about Devante’s backstory in Saved by the Bell Episode 3. He lives with his grandmother and takes care of her because his parents are both out of the picture.
