Saved by the Bell Season 1, Episode 6 recap: Aisha & Jamie start a relationship
By Mads Lennon
In Saved by the Bell Episode 6, DeVante faces consequences after a student says he pushed him.
During the sixth episode of Peacock TV’s rebooted Saved by the Bell, “Teen-Line,” DeVante faces the brunt of the racist PTA president Jade Huntington-Snell (Tricia O’Kelley) and her snotty son/wannabe entertainment critic Tanner (Josh Reiter). Tanner delivers a scathing review of the school’s fall musical starring DeVante and Lexi.
There’s not one part of the musical he leaves unscathed, insulting everything from the singing to the production elements. When confronted in the hallway about his cutting remarks, Tanner starts lobbing insults at DeVante. Wanting him to get out of his space, DeVante lightly shoves past Tanner and he takes the brief physical contact as a chance to get DeVante into serious trouble. Tanner pretends DeVante bullied him and caused a severe injury so his mom will lobby to get DeVante expelled. Toddman consults with Jessie and Slater about her intentions.

Since Douglas and Bayside have integrated, there has been a small but vocal group of parents with issues about the Douglas students. DeVante doesn’t have any adult in his corner for the student trial. He doesn’t want to bother his grandma because he knows she’ll feel like there’s no purpose as this is the way the world works — she’s seen it happen too many times.
But Lexi and Daisy don’t want DeVante to be left alone during the disciplinary process so they encourage her to come to Bayside. His grandma immediately decides to pull DeVante out of school. However, DeVante admits to Lexi that he has grown to like Bayside and he even considers her a friend. Luckily, thanks to Mac, the group manages to find information proving Tanner didn’t even attend the musical on Friday — proving his entire critical career is a scam.
If DeVante decides to stay at Bayside, then they can ensure the case gets thrown out. So, he tells his grandma that he wants the hearing to proceed. Later, Lexi, Daisy and Mac confront Tanner and threaten to oust him as a fraud if he doesn’t drop the charges against DeVante. Alls well that ends well, although Jade promises Toddman that she’s not done yet, so we’ll likely be seeing her again before the season is over.
Saved by the Bell Episode 6 recap: Aisha & Jamie’s budding relationship gets off to a rocky start.
Jamie and Aisha’s non-stop flirting via text has not gone unnoticed by Daisy. Throughout the episode, Daisy pesters Aisha to go out on a date with Jamie, but Aisha continues pretending she doesn’t actually have feelings for him. She even goes so far as to say that as hot as he is, she would never date a dummy like him. Unfortunately for Aisha, she was mid-text and accidentally recorded herself while saying that and then sent the audio to Jamie. The only saving grace she has is Toddman’s sudden decision to take away all of the students’ cellphones.
His decision is a result of someone filming him falling into the orchestra pit and breaking his penis by getting it stuck in a tuba during the musical. But by getting rid of cellphones, all of the students devolve into drug-addicted sex fiends, as Jessie warned him would happen. Before that reveal, Aisha tells Jamie they should have the best day ever until 3:00 p.m. when phones are returned and he hears the message she inadvertently sent him.
They go on an adorable romantic date at the Max and have “sexy fun” (read: throwing water at each other) in an emergency safety shower, and all around have a fantastic day. But then the group has to scheme and find a way to get to the cellphones so they can find proof about Tanner to help DeVante.
In the process, Aisha gets her hands on Jamie’s phone and plans to delete the message but changes her mind when he tells her he has no problem with her going through her phone. Jamie is honest to a fault and wouldn’t want their relationship to start out with a lie. Realizing she needs to come clean, Aisha tells Jamie what she said in the recording. Later, she apologizes to him, and they makeup, sharing a kiss and cementing their new status as boyfriend/girlfriend.
