The Flight Attendant Season 2: Everything we know so far
By Mads Lennon
Cassie Bowden will be back for more adventure in The Flight Attendant Season 2.
The Flight Attendant has proven to be a big success for HBO Max, so it’s not surprising that the streaming service has decided to order a second season. We don’t have any clues about what The Flight Attendant Season 2 will be about just yet, but there are some clues in the Season 1 finale that might give us some hints.
The second season will likely give us more answers on Megan’s storyline, as it was left without much conclusion. Plus, we also know that Shane is working for the CIA, and there might be potential for Cassie to become involved in their human asset program. In the official press release from HBO Max, they teased that the second season would be just as crazy as the first.
Since the book it was based on by Chris Bohjalian was one open-and-shut book, the writers will be free to go in whatever direction they please for the sophomore season.
You can expect to see Cassie’s “mind palace” return in The Flight Attendant Season 2.

Cassie’s “mind palace” was an integral part of the first season. It allowed Cassie the chance to chat with Alex after his death and work out the details of his murder and the ongoing investigation. Considering we only got to see a few scenes of Michael Huisman as Alex Sokolov before he was murdered, the journey into Cassie’s subconscious was a great way to keep him around throughout the season.
Series creator and executive producer Steve Yockey told TVLine that they would keep the mind palace for Season 2, but “it would look different.” Cassie closed the door in the season finale and finally said her goodbyes to Alex, so it wouldn’t make sense for the show to revisit him.
But while that specific version of her mind palace is done and over with, Yockey said they would create something new to ensure it continued to exist moving forward.
“In our finale, Episode 8, she has that beautiful moment where she walks through the mind palace and shuts it all down, basically, so I think that iteration of the mind palace is done. That one has to do with Alex, and she’s moved on from that, but there would be some new version of it that would have to exist in a series, I think.”
When will The Flight Attendant Season 2 premiere?
Because television is slowly going back into production and a vaccine is coming down the pipeline, there is a good chance that The Flight Attendant Season 2 will premiere on HBO Max by winter 2021. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait more than one year for the show to return, as has been the case with some series delayed by COVID-19.
Right now, it’s too far out to know for certain when the series might come back, but I think HBO Max will do its best to get it released by November or December of next year. Hopefully, we can find out more about what the second season might be about next spring/summer.
