All American Season 3, Episode 3 recap: High Expectations

In the previous episode of All American, the quarterbacks for both teams have been selected. All American Season 3, Episode 3 examines how this season is shaping up for Spencer and Jordan. Will the web of relationships be able to withstand the lies? Will their relationship be able to withstand it?
We start in Beverly. Coach Montes is making the team run drills. She runs a tight ship. Asher is standing on the sidelines with her. Could he be playing sooner than we thought?
Vanessa shows up on the sidelines and JJ thinks that she is into him. He wants to ask her out, but Asher doesn’t say anything because he can’t.
Back in Crenshaw, Spencer and the team that they were able to put together are also practicing. Chris and Spencer are already going at it. Chris is standing his ground after what Spencer did to him. We don’t blame him.
All American Season 3, Episode 3 recap: Can trust save the Crenshaw season?
Coach Baker is showing someone around the field. He was a QB in the NFL and will be working with both quarterbacks. He gives the team a speech about trust, but will the boys take his advice?
While they are working out, Darnell gets called into Baker’s office. Billy gives him the chance to get his anger off of his chest, but they aren’t seeing eye to eye. Billy tries to tell him to wait his turn. Darnell doesn’t seem too keen on that.
Simone and Layla are walking around the halls of Beverly. Simone and Jordan have a date night planned. Simone says that Jordan secretly misses Spencer. So, Simone and Layla plan to surprise their guys with each other.
Vanessa approaches Layla and asks her to hang out, but Layla blows her off. When Simone asks why she did that, Layla says it’s a long story.
In Crenshaw, Mo is walking around the streets. Coop walks up behind a part of the crew and they tell her to stay out of it. Could Mo be up to more than we thought?
At the Crenshaw Cafe, Spencer finds out that they have named a sandwich after him. Spencer sits down to talk to Darnell and explain that he did pick him over Chris. But, Darnell doesn’t buy this either. Even though, it is the truth.
Billy and his NFL friend are talking about Crenshaw’s upcoming game against Englewood. Billy can’t seem to stop thinking about Beverly and Jordan.
Coop and Spencer are hanging out at Spencer’s house. Spencer is nervous about the game and Coop keeps reassuring him that he is ready. Coop also tells Spencer that she is nervous about Mo.
All American Season 3, Episode 3 recap: The double date takes a turn.
Asher and Olivia are having a date night at the Baker house. Asher wants to talk about the summer, but Olivia doesn’t want to go there. When Jordan comes downstairs, he mentions he has a date with Simone. Olivia invites them along. Little do they know, it will now be a triple date.
Spencer and Layla arrive and Spencer realizes it is a group date. Asher tells Spencer that Jordan went home because he saw Spencer walk in. When all of a sudden, JJ shows up with Vanessa.
This just got awkward for everyone.
The boys leave the table to go play foosball. JJ says that it is love at first sight with Vanessa. Little does he know about Vanessa and Asher’s past.
Vanessa comes over and confronts Asher. She tries to tell him to back off but Asher tells her that she should not go out with JJ.
Layla asks Olivia why she hasn’t said anything and Olivia alludes to their being more of the story.
Olivia gets up and Spencer sits down. Layla fills Spencer in, but Spencer plays like he doesn’t know the story. So did something else happen this summer?
Spencer and Simone are playing darts. Simone tells him that Jordan does want to see him, but he probably just needs more time.
Coop finally finds out what is going on with Mo and it has to do with Spencer. This can’t be good.
Coop shows up at the Baker house to see Mrs. Baker. Mrs. Baker can’t say much except for someone just turned themselves in.
Spencer and Olivia are now playing pool. Something happened between the two of them, but no one is talking about it yet. Layla looks at the two of them and knows something is up.
Spencer and Layla arrive back in Crenshaw. Layla asks Spencer why he was so distant on the way home. She point-blank asks if it is Olivia. She thinks he is hiding something and he confesses his arm is still giving him problems.
Is this all he had to confess?
All American Season 3, Episode 3 recap: The First Game of the Season
Beverly and Crenshaw are both gearing up for their first game. Coop finds Spencer and tells him that the person who shot him is locked up. Will this rattle Spencer?
In Beverly, Asher finally fesses up about Vanessa. Asher claims he didn’t cheat. Olivia tells him that she wants to leave summer in the past.
Let the games begin.
Spencer seemed to be shaken up a bit in the beginning but is ready to go!
Coop goes to the cafe and sits down with Mo. Coop asked if she had anything to do with Spencer’s shooter turning himself in and she says yes. Mo makes it clear that she doesn’t owe Coop an explanation.
Back at the high school, Chris is running into some problems keeping up his confidence. He also does not want to throw to Spencer. By the half, they are down by 3 touchdowns. Billy takes Chris out and puts Darnell in.
Darnell is able to put the ball in Spencer’s hand and turn this game around. In order to win Crenshaw has to kick an extra point, but they do not have a kicker and they lost.
Layla meets up with Spencer after the game. He tells her about his arm freezing up before the game. She mentions maybe going to therapy. He agrees to it.
We go to Beverly and by the sounds of Coach Montes, their game was a bit of a disaster. But, they also won. Jordan finally steps up and takes responsibility and is going to make them put the work in.
In Crenshaw, Billy is worried about the season, but we think he may have some fight in him still.
Spencer and Darnell are walking home from the game when Darnell is confronted with the news that his mom is injured.
