Like The Luminaries, Belgravia is a historical drama based on a book that aired on EPIX. While it doesn’t involve any mystical elements, Belgravia is still an engrossing, short watch. Anyone who has watched Downton Abbey will definitely want to tune in, as Belgravia was helmed by the same creator, Julian Fellowes, who also wrote the book the series is based on. Also, like The Luminaries, Belgravia takes place in two different years.

However, it doesn’t switch back and forth, and the time between the prologue and later events is much more significant than in the Starz series. Belgravia begins in June 1815 at the Duchess of Richmond’s ball, an extravagant evening held in Brussels for the Duke of Wellington on the eve of the Battle of Quatre Bras. History buffs know that battle occurred just two days before the famed Battle of Waterloo. Twenty-six years later, the Trenchards and Bellasis families have settled into the newly developed Belgravia and continue to be impacted by the ball’s events.
