Superman & Lois, the newest entry in The CWVerse, will be going off-air temporarily, TVLine reports. The first season of the show has been scheduled to have 15 episodes. However, due to the pandemic, production was halted, and this break will allow the production team to complete the rest of the season.

As per TVLine, the show will be replaced by Supergirl, which will be concluding its run with its sixth and final season. Superman & Lois is scheduled to return to screens on Tuesday, May 18 at its regular slot of 9 pm.

Starring Tyler Hoechlin as the Man of Steel and Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane, the series has already won over fans with its mix of family drama and high-octane action. The first couple of DC Comics are ably supported by their twin sons, Jonathan (Jordan Elsass) and Jordan (Alex Garfin), who are navigating their lives after discovering their father is Superman.

Fans needn’t worry too much about the show, though. Superman & Lois has already been greenlit for a second season, so it’s not going away any time soon. The show had already seen early success when additional episodes were ordered for its premiere season.

Superman & Lois: What do we know so far?

In the first five episodes of Superman & Lois, Clark Kent was let go from his job at the Daily Planet after the season villain, Morgan Edge, bought up the publication. Clark also learned that his mother passed away, and believed she wanted the Kents to move back to his hometown of Smallville to save his family farm.

Clark’s move has frustrated his father-in-law, General Sam Lane, who believes Superman’s absence will lead to an increase in crime. Additionally, Clark has a new enemy to fight. Captain Luthor from an alternate Earth wants to take down the Kryptonian hero believing he will destroy the planet.

Lois Lane had agreed to move to Smallville believing her calling was to investigate Edge’s corrupt dealings—so far, her instincts have been correct. Lois has been ruffling Edge’s feathers, but he has not backed down, especially since Edge’s goal is to create his own Kryptonian army from a mine of X-Kryptonite that was buried in Smallville.

While the adults fight their own battles, Jordan and Jonathan have overcome school bullying to become members of the school football team. Jordan discovered he has powers, but they’re a shadow of his father’s abilities, so why not use them to become popular?

Jonathan, the formerly perfect child, has taken a back seat to Jordan’s emerging success, but he has been supportive of his brother throughout. During this first segment of Superman & Lois, Jonathan has put his ego aside to cheer on his brother.

The show hasn’t been that successful in giving the few female characters enough screen time, but we are seeing Lois Lane and Lana Lang-Cushing coming to the foreground more and more.

After the events of Episode 5, fans have a long wait before they can return to Smallville and see how the Kents cope with their enemies closing in.
