Ted Lasso Season 2: Everything we know so far
By Mads Lennon
BIG NEWS! Ted Lasso is BACK. Yes. Sooner than you think, Ted, Nate, Roy, Keeley, Rebecca, Coach Beard, Higgins, you name it, they’ll be back on our screens and not a moment too soon. Ted Lasso Season 2 is officially releasing on July 23, and Apple TV+ released a big 2-minute trailer to get fans pumped for what’s to come!
So what do we actually know about the next season of Apple’s latest breakout series (one which garnered star Jason Sudeikis all kinds of awards, including a Golden Globe!)?
Well, apart from what’s presented in the teaser, not a ton. Apple hasn’t released an official season synopsis, but the bittersweet Season 1 finale saw AFC Richmond defeated in the last second by Manchester by their old teammate, Jamie. Ted even tries to resign after getting the team relegated, but Rebecca won’t hear of it.
Based on the trailer for the season, Rebecca and Ted are still on great terms. The morale around the office looks better than ever, with clips showing meetings between Keeley, Higgins and Rebecca, all of them smiling. Rebecca even turns to Ted for some advice on a new guy she’s seeing!
Some of the other tidbits we picked up from the trailer include Keeley and Roy are still seeing each other; Sam and Danny might have more significant roles to play; the return of Trent Crimm; and the return of the little green army men (does that mean Jamie is back?).
Ted Lasso Season 2 is introducing a sports psychologist.
The Ted Lasso Season 2 teaser also gave us our first look at newcomer Sarah Niles (I May Destroy You), who has joined the season as a sports psychologist, Sharon. Sharon doesn’t look impressed by Ted’s antics and even turns down his infamous biscuits because she doesn’t eat sugar. It’ll be interesting to see how Sharon affects the team’s morale and if she ends up causing problems for Ted.
Ted Lasso Season 2 won’t be the last.
We also know that fans don’t have to fret about Ted Lasso suddenly getting canceled after its second season as the show has already been renewed for Season 3 (although show creator Bill Lawrence does warn that the third season could be the last)!
Right now, we don’t have an exact episode count for the second season, but I’d imagine it’ll be 10 episodes or around that number since that’s how many were in the first season.
Make sure you watch the official teaser below and get ready for July 23:
The complete first season of Ted Lasso is available on Apple TV+ on the Apple TV app.
