FX’s groundbreaking and critically-acclaimed series Pose might be coming to an end with its current third and final season, but the cast is already preparing to move on to new and exciting projects! Star Michaela Jaé (Mj) Rodriguez will star alongside Maya Rudolph in the upcoming untitled half-hour comedy series created by Emmy winners Matt Hubbard and Alan Yang for Apple TV+, reports Deadline.

The comedy follows Rudolph’s character Molly, who has her “seemingly perfect life” upended when her husband suddenly leaves her with $87 billion. According to the outlet, Rodriguez will play “the hard-working executive director of the non-profit funded by her absentee billionaire boss, Molly.”

Based on that report, it sounds like Molly will funnel her newfound fortune into an organization and then hire Rodriguez’s character to come on board and manage things. I’m guessing there will be plenty of hijinks and conflict between the two women, especially if Molly is an “absentee” boss.

As for the tone of this as-yet-untitled comedy, Hubbard is best known for his writing work on sitcoms like Parks & Recreation and 30 Rock. He won his Emmy for his 30 Rock episode “Reunion.”

Mj Rodriguez is best known for her award-winning performance as Blanca on Pose.

Yang also previously worked on Parks & Recreation, The Good Place and the award-winning Netflix series starring Aziz Ansari, Master of None. Yang won an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. He also worked with Apple TV+ on Season 1 of the service’s anthology series, Little America, which was renewed for a second season ahead of its premiere.

Yang and Hubbard will also executive produce the series alongside Rudolph, who will produce via her production company Animal Pictures. Natasha Lyonne and Danielle Renfrew Behrens, who also work for the company, will also executive produce, as will Dave Becky. Universal Studio Group division Universal Television will serve as the show’s studio.

You can currently catch Mj Rodriguez starring in the third and final season of Pose on FX, where she plays housemother Blanca. She also made history after becoming the first trans woman to win Best Actress in Television for her role at the 2019 Imagen Awards. She was recently nominated for a Critics Choice Television Award. She has also won two Gold Derby Awards for her portrayal of Blanca too. It’ll be exciting to see how Rodriguez’s career continues to grow as she departs Pose.
