According to a new report from DeadlinePhoebe Dynevor might be following in the footsteps of her on-screen husband, Regé-Jean Page. The actress has just secured a new leading role in an upcoming Amazon project called Exciting Times, where she will also serve as an executive producer.

Juggling two full-time jobs isn’t impossible, but it’s not exceedingly common in Hollywood for actors to be a series regular on two shows simultaneously. We already know that Bridgerton has been renewed through Season 4 on Netflix, so does Phoebe’s new job mean that Daphne’s days on the series are numbered?

Phoebe Dynevor probably will leave Bridgerton after Season 2

While Phoebe booking this job doesn’t automatically mean she’s done with Bridgerton, the odds are that she will no longer be on the show in a leading capacity. Bridgerton, which is based on books by Julia Quinn, is a unique show in that every book follows a different character.

The second season will be about Daphne’s brother, the eldest Bridgerton sibling, Anthony. Since the first season was based on the first book, The Duke & I, the second season will likely follow The Viscount Who Loved Me. We’ll see Anthony trying to find love this time around.

Phoebe is confirmed to return and reprise her role as Daphne in Season 2, but her happy marriage to the Duke will likely reduce her role. It would make sense that moving forward into additional seasons, the character of Daphne would appear less and less.

As the show continues, other peripheral and supporting characters will rotate into center stage. In the books, Daphne and Simon don’t show up much in the later novels. Phoebe might come back periodically for an appearance, but it seems natural for the writers to write off her character gradually.

So, while we don’t have confirmation that Phoebe is leaving Bridgerton, it’s probably best to assume that she will only start appearing in a reduced capacity from here on out—and not just because of her new role but because that’s the nature of Quinn’s book series.
