Sex Education Season 3: 5 things to remember before it returns
2. The Clique shattering detention group
One of the BEST moments from the entire show so far was everything regarding detention in Season 2 Episode 7. Within this group of detained students were Maeve, Ola, Lily, Viv, Aimee (Aimee Lou Wood), and Olivia (Simone Ashley).
While these girls are basically an all-girl rendition of The Breakfast Club, the result ends up becoming so much more. Throughout the season, Aimee has been coping with being masturbated onto while riding the bus. As days go on, this despicable act gains heavier weight, leading the once bubbly Aimee to become a shell of herself.
Within detention, these six girls, who are high school-aged remember, share their experiences being sexually harassed by men. Male audiences might see this scene and finally begin to understand what girls and women go through on a daily basis.
However, the female audiences are likely not surprised to hear about the experiences of the six girls in detention. Although every girl represents a different friend group, social standing, and clique, opening up about their shared trauma has made them feel closer. The cherry on top of this moment was all six of them riding the bus together in solidarity.
1. Pregnant Jean
Quite possibly, the character going through the biggest changes entering this third season is everyone’s favorite real sex therapist in Jean (Gillian Anderson). She has been the sneaky character who is always in the background when it comes to Otis’ hijinks, but her role looks to be increasing with her latest and shocking news from the Season 2 finale. After Jean and her on-again-off-again fling with Jakob coming to an end, she discovered that she was pregnant.
Considering how independent Jean has been since we met her, it’s important to remember this before Sex Education Season 3. This news will shake up her life in unexpected ways. Also, so many questions come from this news. Is it Jakob’s? Will she tell Jakob? How will Otis and Ola react? To find these answers, you are just going to have to watch the third season and find out with me.
The first two seasons of Sex Education are streaming now on Netflix. Sex Education Season 3 premieres on September 17.
