Bradley is still furious at Cory after finding out Eric is being switched to the evening news slot she wants — and she gets only gets angrier when he reveals the next step in his plan: to get Alex back on board.

Despite her team advising her not to, Bradley decides to call out sick for three weeks until she feels she’s being valued and taken seriously. It’s a bold move considering the ratings are low and she’s not testing well, but Bradley is adamant that she has the leverage here since the network is about to do a big publicity push advertising Bradley and Alex together again.

The network gets impatient with Bradley’s antics and the fact she’s been seen in public despite calling out of work. They demand Cory fire her since she’s making them look foolish. Cory pleads with Bradley to stop trying to stick it to everyone, as she’s only hurting herself in the long run.

Before the big team dinner, Bradley calls Chip and asks for advice on getting to know Alex. Chip tells her that Alex is out for herself — she’ll make you feel important but ultimately push you off a cliff to get ahead. Though he feels betrayed by Alex, he says he’s actually happy he’s gone now, as he has time to live his life and be in a committed relationship.

This information makes Bradley feel even frostier towards Alex. Though they’re reasonably civil during dinner itself, after it’s over, they get into an argument about how Alex left out of the blue and never checked up on Bradley like she promised she would. Alex brushes her off, saying there are people out there with real problems, but Bradley holds firm. She reminds her that she was the one who tried to take down the network while Alex was gunning to get her fired. She promises Alex that she won’t keep rolling over and playing second fiddle to her — it’s war between them.

Alex is practically giddy about coming back to work, showing up to the executive floor to scout out her new office despite Cory and Stella wanting to keep her return under wraps. When she gets to the anchor floor, however, Alex has flashbacks and suffers from a panic attack.

She eventually finds refuge in Eric’s office, but the relief is short-lived, as Eric starts talking badly about Bradley. Alex feels defensive towards her, telling Eric that, if the two of them couldn’t get along in the six months they worked together, it’s probably his fault.

But her feelings for Bradley quickly turn sour during their post-dinner fight. Though Alex is annoyed at Bradley for ripping into her, one thing she says does strike a chord: the fact that she messed up with Chip. Alex realizes Bradley is right and pays Chip a visit that night, asking him to come back and be her producer. It doesn’t take long for Chip to agree.

The Morning Show Season 2, Episode 2 recap: The most ominous plane ride

Chip isn’t the only one upset at Alex. Daniel has a bone to pick with her, too, as he became collateral damage in her vendetta against the network. Alex feels guilty about the role she played in what happened to him, assuring him that he deserves better and she’ll do anything to help him now.

Daniel also makes it his mission to cover COVID despite the fact nobody else feels it’s a good use of their time, and the end of the episode sees him on a plane to Wuhan.

The Morning Show Season 2, Episode 2 recap: Ciao, Mitch

While Daniel is off to China, Mitch has started a new life in Italy — or tried to, at least. He is still getting berated on the streets. One such berating, however, leads to an Italian woman coming to his defense at a gelato restaurant. Though Mitch wants to slink away quietly, the lady insists on giving a loud speech about how feminism and cancel culture these days. Mitch thinks the woman is crazy, but she eventually hounds him so much that Mitch gives her his number.

In addition to his new acquaintance, Mitch is also surprised by an old one: Fred. Mitch slams the door in his face, knocking the alcohol he brought out of his hand in the process.

The Morning Show Season 2, Episode 2 recap: $119.2 million

In addition to struggling with Bradley, Cory is also grappling with the issue of Hannah’s wrongful death lawsuit. He tells the lawyers to pay Hannah’s family whatever they’re asking and have them sign an NDA so it goes away. After a lawyer makes a tasteless comment about how Hannah’s death offers them a built-in NDA, Cory fires him on the spot.

Despite Cory not wanting the suit to go to court, it seems they’re not going to have a choice after all. Hannah’s family is demanding an absurdly high and extremely specific amount of money: $119.2 million — the same amount the network paid Fred to leave.
