After the conclusion of the final Big Three trilogy, the latest episode of This Is Us season 6 starts off with the argument between Toby and Kate from episode 9, but from baby Jack’s perspective. As his parents argue in the kitchen, Jack tries getting out of his bed but ends up falling.

Thankfully he has no pain or injuries. After this, Kate and Toby put on a front that slowly evolves into genuine kindness as they walk to the park and sing a parodied version of “Saturday in the Park” by Chicago.

This Is Us season 6 episode 11: Two wedding anniversaries

The episode jumps back to when the Big Three were younger and making abstract art that they are trying to pass off as anniversary cards for Jack and Rebecca’s 10th wedding anniversary. This parallels the 10th wedding anniversary party for Miguel and Rebecca that Kevin, Kate, and Toby are helping facilitate and prepare for.

Kate and Kevin talk about the friction with Toby since Kevin overheard them last night. Randall and Beth arrive shortly and that leads to Kate hugging her brother tightly before asking him to remove Kevin from the house for a bit since he and Toby are aggravating one another.

When it rains it pours for Kate. It turns out there is a leak in the kitchen ceiling that eventually spreads throughout the house.

While at their fancy anniversary dinner, Jack and Rebecca reminisce about how they have not gone out since their kids were born over six years ago before planning their amazing night. Back at their home, however, their sitter is struggling to put the Big Three asleep as Kate and Kevin are much more defiant and rebellious.

As Randall and Kevin go to pick up Kev’s twins early because Kate wanted him out of the house, Madison is bringing their children to music class. Kevin decides to introduce his brother to Madison’s new boyfriend Elijah.

He walks into the bedroom and finds Elijah searching through Madison’s jewelry box. Elijah is not stealing anything but rather trying to find Madison’s ring size so he can propose.

Kevin becomes speechless.

This Is Us season 6 episode 11: Toby needs to take a step back

Back at Kate and Toby’s house, there is chaos around the leaky ceiling on top of the friction everyone knows is there between the married couple. This results in Toby and Beth going out back to prepare the food and have some tropical-themed adult beverages.

Beth tries to help Toby by talking about her and Randall doing long-distance during Randall’s first campaign. Toby points out that Beth moved her family for him, something Kate is not willing to do.

Grandma Rebecca is looking after baby Jack in his bedroom where the two bond with him sharing all of his shoes and their purposes. Then Jack shares that “mommy and daddy fight a lot” but Rebecca comforts her grandson by saying no matter what, it will all be ok.

At their anniversary dinner, Rebecca is throwing back drinks like she is in her early twenties again. This leads to a pre-sober Jack being the voice of reason when it comes to alcohol consumption.

Jack is happy seeing his wife relaxed for the first time in a while, but that fun comes to an end when he gets a call from their likely annoyed babysitter.

This Is Us season 6 episode 11: Kevin spirals like usual

Randall and Kevin are just driving around now and killing time before they can go back to the party. Kevin is spiraling about Elijah and Madison becoming engaged.

Randall does what he does best and plays mediator for Kevin’s racing thoughts. That role comes to a close when Randall plays tough love by slapping Kevin’s phone out of his hands before his brother can send a self-destructing text to Madison.

While he might not like it, Kevin understands why his brother is being like this and he loves him for it. During the prep for Rebecca and Miguel’s party, the chaos is nonstop with the leak spreading all around the house.

Toby’s assistance is needed but he has to put Jack down as nobody is around to help. Toby puts his son in his bedroom but doesn’t lock the gate.

Then when Kate lets the plumber in, she doesn’t lock her front door. This eventually results in Jack walking out the front door alone because today is Saturday and that means he is supposed to go to the park.

After Toby, Kate, Miguel, and Rebecca search the home inside and out, Rebecca notices the rubber boots are gone and she knows that he is at the park. Grandma Rebecca then runs to the park to find her grandson tripped over with a good size cut on his head.

When their dinner was cut short, Jack and (a very inebriated) Rebecca return home to find their babysitter was locked in the bathroom by the triplets. Young Randall and young Kevin decided to lock her in there because she was calling their sister Chatty Kathy.

Their parents are astounded at this morally right action but Jack explains that they have to respond differently to these sorts of mean words.

This Is Us season 6 episode 11: Kate finally gets everything off her chest

Baby Jack is taken care of at the hospital and now that their son is safe, Kate and Toby can go in on one another. It is not just about today for Kate as she unleashes pain that she has been holding onto for a while.

It all has to deal with Toby observing Jack’s blindness as an obstacle to overcome rather than treating his son as a son. Kevin and Randall return home to help their sister but that only gives Toby silent rage before he walks away.

Kevin goes to give his twins some love and he talks to Madison about her no longer being needed as his emergency contact. Madison shares the news that she thinks Elijah is going to propose.

She is excited about it which has a mentally prepared Kevin to give the mother of his children his support. Madison offers to be Kev’s emergency contact for as long as he needs.

The episode comes to a close with the Big Three showing love to Kate and consoling her after this tumultuous day. Kate shares that Jack explained to the doctor who helped him that he went to the park because that is where his parents are their happiest.

Toby is seen looking after his sleeping son and allowing himself to feel the emotions of his respective day. The final flashback of the episode shows Rebecca noticing the sentimental moment when all three of their kids stood up for the other two and formed a strong unit.

This parallels grandma Rebecca looking outside to see her three adult children still being in this unit over three decades later. Outside with the Big Three, the last words spoken are from Kate when she says, “I don’t know if Toby and I are going to make it.”
