We may not be the first nor the last to talk about this but we’re thinking Steven Grant is not the main identity, Marc Spector is. If you are feeling confused, join the club as the Disney Plus original series Moon Knight is as thrilling as it is baffling.

Let’s not assume too much as there have only been two episodes released so far but we’re pretty positive Steven Grant is but a misdirection to what is really going on. Assuming you know nothing about the original Marvel character Moon Knight, you can gather by now that Steven Grant has some sort of personality disorder.

What he thought were realistic dreams are actually realities and everyone seems to get him confused with a man named Marc Spector. Steven himself has spoken to this other personality but doesn’t understand why this is suddenly happening.

This isn’t sudden. This has been happening, probably for a while.

Who is really in control on the Disney Plus original series Moon Knight?

Marc Spector tells Steven that he is the avatar of the Egyptian god of the Moon, Khonshu and that they must protect the golden scarab in their possession. This golden scarab will lead to Egyptian god Ammit’s tomb.

But Marc has a whole life Steven isn’t aware of. A life that includes a marriage to a woman named Layla, a history of mercenary work and now involvement in some Egyptian god-like war that also involves Arthur Harrow.

As Steven is thrown into this mess, Marc tries to take over his body and Khonshu continually gets annoyed by Steven’s interference. But why?

It’s clear that Marc Spector is the main identity and Steven Grant is a personality of Marc’s. Marc is the main character, not Steven.

Marc is the one who made the deal with Khonshu and either didn’t tell the god he has multiple personalities or assured him the other personalities wouldn’t cause problems. It’s why Steven and Layla have a love of the same French poet.

It’s why he feels a connection to her without hardly knowing her. It’s why he loves Ancient Egyptian history.

It’s why when Steven calls Layla for the first time she says that she hadn’t heard from him (Marc) in months. Months!

Marc’s sudden disappearance could also be him trying to keep Layla uninvolved and protected. Regardless, Steven, while vastly different from Marc, is still a part of Marc.

What we don’t know is, how did Marc lose control for so long that Steven was able to get a job at the museum, his own apartment etc., and how long has Steven been in control? Has Marc only been taking control while Steven sleeps?

It seems like a safe bet as everything weird that has been happening to Steven happens when it’s nighttime in his part of the world. It’s probably why Steven is still cuffed to the bed when he wakes up in the morning yet notices when Marc hastily pushed the fish tank to hide the key to the storage locker and cell phone.

Marc has been continually trying to work while Steven is sleeping without alerting him to what is really going on. Marc has been trying to protect Steven but somehow isn’t able to anymore.

But perhaps the biggest reveal could be if there is yet another personality we haven’t met yet! If there is, who are they and how will they change the story?
