The Walking Dead series might be concluding at the end of season 11 but there is plenty of Walking Dead material fans have yet to see. Tales of The Walking Dead and Isle of the Dead are two spin-offs that will be arriving to AMC in the near future, but there was one spin-off that disappeared off everyone’s radar.

We’re talking about the untitled, Daryl and Carol spin-off. Fans went into a frenzy when this spinoff was first announced some time ago.

The duo has survived eleven seasons of the post-apocalyptic series having fought walkers, people, and themselves. Their tight-knit friendship has been tested multiple times but the concept of the two of them teaming up for some undisclosed reason seemed intriguing.

But all of that came to a crashing halt once rumors started spreading on social media that the spinoff was canceled. The rumors have proven somewhat true as it has been officially confirmed that the Daryl and Carol spin-off will now become a solo Daryl spin-off.

Which The Walking Dead spinoff are you most excited for?

So, what happened? According to several sites, including, Variety, Melissa McBride (Carol) would not be able to film the spin-off.

In a statement by AMC, “Unfortunately, she is no longer able to participate in the previously announced spin-off focused on the Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier characters, which will be set and filmed in Europe this summer and premiere next year. Relocating to Europe became logistically untenable for Melissa at this time. We know fans will be disappointed by this news, but ‘The Walking Dead’ Universe continues to grow and expand in interesting ways and we very much hope to see Carol again in the near future.”

What does this mean? Will Carol survive?

Will she and Ezekiel rekindle their relationship? Is Daryl going to leave without so much as a goodbye hug?

All of that aside, if what AMC is saying is true and the Daryl spin-off will be filming in Europe, we may be seeing a connection to this and Isle of the Dead. How?

As of now, Maggie and Negan’s spin-off is taking them to New York. If we remember from The Walking Dead: World Beyond, New York is the location of the CRM.

Daryl’s spin-off will be taking place in Europe where it was also mentioned in both The Walking Dead and World Beyond that the virus has some kind of origin with France. Sounds to us like something big is about to happen!
