Who would’ve thought, in the year 2022, exactly 17 years later, we would get to see our beloved prequel characters back in action in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series? That’s right!

They have officially come back for the new Disney Plus series. You can thank Deborah Chow, by the way.

It was confirmed that the new Obi-Wan Kenobi series would officially be going into production in early 2020. And with it, casting was to be settled as well.

Judging from the title, we, of course, can assume Ewan McGregor, would be making his comeback in the show as the legendary, Obi-Wan Kenobi. We were, however, unsure of other cast members from the prequels making their return.

Could we be seeing a Darth Vader spin-off based on the Obi-Wan Kenobi series?

Until late 2020, the official Star Wars account on Twitter had tweeted out saying that Hayden Christensen was set to return for his role as Anakin Skywalker aka Darth Vader.

This is the first time in over a decade that we would be getting Christensen as Darth Vader back on our screens. As well as have our favorite dynamic duo, Ewan and Hayden, share the same screen space after so long.

Dare I say it is everything TV needs right now. It’s no secret that the prequels weren’t well-received by critics.

The writing and direction of the films were heavily criticized but Christensen is, ’til this very day, very proud of the films produced and to have played the younger version of pre-crisp Vader. But I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again; Hayden Christensen deserved an award for best performance in Revenge of the Sith.

I don’t care which award it is. Just give him an award.

It’s absolutely amazing that after so many years, people are ecstatic as ever for Christensen’s return. *Cough* including myself *Cough.

Over the course of several years, Christensen has expressed that he has always been proud of the role he has played and loves the Star Wars universe so much that he is willing to come back anytime to play the role again. Appearing in recent interviews and at the Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, Christensen and McGregor reflected back at the time of the prequels’ release and revealed how overjoyed they were with the amount of love fans have given them during the Obi-Wan Kenobi promotions.

Christensen also has said that he thinks there could be much more to explore with Darth Vader’s arc and would love to have his character go further. Telling

, “I think this is a character that sort of resonates in our culture in a very profound way.“

“And there’s certainly more there to explore. Like you said, there are so many other stories that have been told in these other mediums. And I would love to get to continue my journey with him.”

Rumors have been circulating recently of Christensen making his return as Vader, yet again, in the new Star Wars series, Ahsoka, which is currently in development. When asked, Christensen neither denied nor confirmed the rumors, but says that he is open to the possibility of returning.

He cannot reveal any information pertaining to the show. As of now, we have no official confirmation of a new series based on Darth Vader.

But Hayden Christensen HAS expressed his love for it to be made so it could be in the cards for Disney. I mean, The Chosen One having his own series?

Sign me up! I think we all deserve to see more of Lord Vader.

Don’t you think? For now, you can catch Hayden Christensen marking his return as Darth Vader in the new Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney Plus.

The first four episodes are available for streaming.
