Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight season 1, episode 9 recap

The legendary fire whip comes back into play as Po leads Wandering Blade to the docks so she can take Klaus and Veruca back to England on Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight season 1 episode 9. Trouble is, the weasels will not go easily, and one mistake leads to a disastrous outcome.

Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight Season 1 Episode 9 recap – The Fire Whip

The episode opens with Po’s father in the presence of The Emperor. As he proudly and a little overdramatically, tells The Emperor that he will not provide any information regarding Po, someone arrives.

It is the thief monkey from episode 6 and she has come with an offer. She will give The Emperor the fire whip if he gives her half of China’s treasury.

The Emperor finds this humorous until she reveals how powerful the whip is. He agrees however when she attempts to leave her refuses.

She resorts to using the fire whip to fight off the Imperial Guards.

Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight Season 1 Episode 9 recap – Klaus and Veruca Escape

Now that Wandering Blade has captured Klaus and Veruca she is ready to go home but Po, who is now wearing the gauntlet, isn’t ready for her to leave yet. He offers to guide her to the docks, for a shortcut.

Wandering Blade agrees and together they manage to get a boat. Trouble is Veruca can’t use her powers unless she’s on land.

Even though Wandering Blade notices that a passerby is walking faster than they are moving, she still believes in Po’s shortcut. Their travels get interrupted when they come upon several boats and people celebrating the Moon Festival.

Po continually holds up Wandering Blade wanting her to try several foods and have fun before leaving China. She does for a little bit when Klaus and Veruca get the attention of some Imperial Guards.

They accuse Po of stealing the gauntlet and a fight ensues. They escape and make it to land however under a full moon.

Veruca uses her powers and easily defeats Po, forcing Wandering Blade to tell them where the fire whip is. Wandering Blade gives up the information allowing Veruca and Klaus to escape with the gauntlet.

Wandering Blade and Po manage to escape themselves and agree to follow the weasels together to complete the mission.

Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight Season 1 Episode 9 review

This felt like an oddly paced episode. At times it was funny and flowed well whereas at other times it felt slow.

Especially when it came to Po’s plan of slowing Wandering Blade down because he didn’t want her to leave China yet. Po’s actions were understandable but dangerous, even if staying on the water would be the only way to prevent Veruca from using her powers.

Now there seems to be a race to The Emperor and he’s already dealing with more than he can handle. With only two episodes left, how will Po and Wandering Blade stop Klaus and Veruca now?
