Where will The Walking Dead Daryl Dixon spinoff take place?

Daryl Dixon is one of the few characters who has survived the entire series of The Walking Dead. He had some close calls but managed to survive it all!

But his story isn’t over yet. After season 11 concludes, Daryl will be starring in his own spinoff. Originally the spinoff was going to be about both him and Carol, however, it seems the series will continue without her.

Much like Maggie and Negan’s Isle of the Dead, no one quite knows what to expect for Daryl’s show. Scott M. Gimple, whom you may know as showrunner for The Walking Dead for several seasons, provided some insight during the Talking Dead: The Walking Dead Universe Preview 2022 special.

Daryl’s spinoff will take place in France, in which many fans immediately made the connection to that of a The Walking Dead: World Beyond series finale end credit scene. Gamesradar+ revisits this pivotal moment explaining, “a French doctor (Carey Van Driest) was seen listening back to old transmissions from virologist Dr. Edwin Jenner (Noah Emmerich), the CDC guy that Rick Grimes and the gang ran into back in The Walking Dead season 1. In one of the videos, the scientist notes that there are super fast “variants” of walkers that have been spotted in the vicinity and are potentially man-made.”

Will Daryl have to face these new walker variants in his upcoming The Walking Dead spinoff?

This isn’t something new as we’ve seen walkers be able to climb fences and turn doorknobs before. We haven’t seen them since but now it looks as though they are going to be a far worse problem than originally thought.

As for our leading man, Gimple explains, “He finds himself having to reinvent himself again, having to find himself again, and also, not being with – probably – the only people in the world he’s comfortable with.”

Fans of the series know how often Daryl reinvented himself since his first appearance, cussing and throwing a fit over a walker that got to a deer he had been hunting for the group in season 1. He’s gone through having close friendships and actual romantic relationships but what will make this spinoff different?
