While the final season of Derry Girls aired some months ago on Channel 4, fans had to wait patiently for the Netflix release. Thankfully we will not have to wait much longer.

Thanks to a rather solemn tweet from the Netflix Twitter account, Derry Girls’ third and final season will air October 7. The series follows Erin, Orla, Clare, Michelle, and James as they maneuver their way through teenage life in Derry, Ireland during the 90’s.

They, including Michelle’s cousin James, attend Our Lady Immaculate College, an all-girls school. Throughout the series, hilarious and random mishaps and shenanigans ensue for the group and Erin’s family.

Perhaps the group struggles with accepting the similarities and differences between Protestants and Catholics. Perhaps Erin’s grandfather practically forces her father on a clueless mission to meet the United States President Bill Clinton.

When does Derry Girls season 3 air on Netflix?

For every laugh, the series had its somber and heartfelt moments too. Erin and James seem to briefly connect in a way that leads us to suspect they may become more than friends.

Erin’s family living situation reveals that they probably struggle financially. But what can we expect from the final season?

The official trailer revealed the importance of the upcoming GCSE tests, a possible temptation for Erin’s mother Mary in the form of a plumber and an unclear crazy situation that may change everything for the group.

We are sad to being saying goodbye to Derry Girls as it stood out among other comedies on the streaming platform. We look forward to following Erin and her friends one last time as they face adulthood and all the crazy moments they’ll probably overcome.

Including facing Liam Neeson in the form of a RUC (Royal Ulster Constabulary) Officer.
