This article contains SPOILERS for Andor season 1 episode 1.

As Cassian tries to find answers about his home planet, his rebellious actions raise some eyebrows in the premiere episode of Andor season 1.

Catch up here on everything from the trailer!

The first episode begins with our titular hero walking on a bridge located on the planet Morlana One in the city of Preox in the year BBY 5. Cassian Andor walks to a pleasure club with strict no paraphernalia rules where a woman greets him.

He asks about a woman from Kenari and it turns out she left months ago and disappeared. Andor explains how he is looking for his sister, but he only receives crumbs of info.

He then leaves the club and is eventually followed by guards who accost him for his ID which he clearly does not have.

He is able to knock one guard down and then disarm the other. When Andor tries to get them both on their feet, it is discovered the first guard he knocked down is dead.

To truly cover his tracks, he kills the other guard and flees the planet as quickly as possible.

Andor season 1 episode 1: Syril Karn discovers injustice

On the planet Ferrix, the droid B2EMO is traveling through a town to wake up Cassian Andor in his ship. The eponymous man begins having a flashback when the droid calls him “Kassa”.

Audiences see the childhood of Cassian Andor on Kenari. A young Kassa watches as some sort of ship crashes in the distance while his fellow villagers and younger sister look on.

When he wakes up, Cassian interrogates B2EMO about who was looking for him while he was gone. After being satisfied with what he hears, Andor makes sure to have his droid cover for him by lying and telling no one about seeing him.

Following his departure, Cassian finds his friend Rashi who Cassian uses as his alibi if anyone were to ask about him. Rashi plays along and even adds more depth to the story before encouraging his friend to pull himself together after he is out of whatever hot water, he is in.

Back on Morlana One, Deputy Inspector Syril Karn is presenting the case of his fellow guards being murdered last night to his chief. Karn outlines everything that has happened and claims he has some strong leads about a suspect.

However, Chief Hyne consciously dismisses it as an accident since he needs to keep his crime rates low ahead of a presentation with the Imperial Regional Command. This order to frame it as an accident perplexes Syril Karn since he is a man of duty and justice.

Andor season 1 episode 1: Cassian knows Bix Caleen is no damsel

With something in his possession to sell, Cassian goes to his friend’s garage, Bix Caleen, hoping to sell it to her smuggler. She explains how it will not be for a month.

Andor stresses it has to be earlier. When Bix presses him on it, Cassian explains that he has an untraceable and intact NS-9 Starpath unit.

This expensive aircraft shocks Bix. After some convincing Cassian is eventually able to get his friend to call her smuggler to move the ship.

On his way out, Andor jests with Timm, Bix’s professional and romantic partner. Timm shows some slight jealousy that people, like Cassian, are saying Bix is tougher than him.

During another flashback to Kenari, the village children are preparing themselves for battle. This includes getting supplies like water and tools along with Kassa copying another girl’s war paint idea.

Determined to find who killed two of his guards, Syril Karn orders one of the Astro-traffic control officers to track the ship that left their planet while being undetected. This will enable them to know where the ship and Cassian went.

Andor season 1 episode 1: Cassian making up for his past choices

Walking through town, Cassian is spotted by Nurchi and the intimidating Vetch who is demanding Cassian repay him. He cleverly plays Nurchi and Vetch off one another before leaving without paying a cent.

After their run-in with Cassian Andor, Bix leaves her garage and explains to Timm that she is just running errands. Timm tries to follow his girlfriend, but she loses him in the crowd.

Eventually, Bix goes to a salvage yard which is just a front for a secret communication device where she listens to a message. Cassian returns to the ship he used the night before, which is actually in a spacecraft dealership.

He runs into friend and employee Pegla who does not sell him out to his angry and rigid boss, a trend Cassian has found himself in. The episode ends with one final return to Kassa’s childhood.

Here, Cassian is following the older children into battle while also begrudgingly being forced to leave his younger sister in the village. She is not ready for battle yet, and so he leaves the young girl alone.
