This episode continues with the same flashback to little Cassian “Kassa” Andor as the teenage boy on the hunt with his fellow Kenari teenagers. They are tracking some sort of aircraft that crashed on their planet, prepared for any force that might challenge them.
Kassa, who is clearly on the younger side of the rest of the kids, is the caboose of the party. As they are all walking, he sees the mining colony that has clearly been around for years.
This might begin to explain why there are no adults around the village.
Andor season 1 episode 2: Cassian discovers he said too much
Returning to the main timeline on Ferrix, it is the end of the same day, and everyone’s daytime activities are coming to a close. In her garage, Bix Caleen is clearly distracted when Timm asks to have a special date night.
She dismisses him and reschedules for tomorrow night. Suspicious of his girlfriend, Timm sneaks into her computer to find the message from Syril Karn.
The message states the Pre-Mor Authority is looking for a man that matches Cassian’s description. This clearly upsets Bix’s boyfriend.
After walking throughout the town, Andor arrives at Maarva’s home where she and B2EMO look to be expecting him. She, at first, plays nice while asking Cassian where he has been, and when Andor gives his fabricated story, Maarva plays out Karn’s message.
Disregarding the fact that Pre-Mor is looking for him, Maarva is much more upset that they know Cassian is from Kenari. The two begin scrambling about how the authorities know of his heritage before Andor admits it was his own doing since he asked at the club.
When B2EMO states Bix is looking for Cassian, the wanted man ignores Maarva’s concerns and goes to meet her. As privately as possible, the two meet in a cantina where Cassian explains what happened with the two dead guards.
Andor season 1 episode 2: Bix Takes Comfort while Timm makes a Call
Since this is all going down, Cassian tries to back out of his deal with Bix and the third-party buyer. But Bix informs him that it is too late, and the buyer will arrive in the morning.
Unsuspected to both of them, Timm is peeping on the two and clearly intoxicated. With this visual, his mind inebriated, and emotions running high, Timm calls the Pre-Mor Authority and sends in a tip about Cassian Andor.
The Pre-Mor officers receive this and see that Andor’s record does not say he is from Kenari, but rather Fest. After Syril Karn arrives, they receive an image of Cassian where his Kenari features are much more present.
This also coincides with the arrival of the hostess to whom Cassian spoke and asked questions to at the club. Because she could not sleep, Bix heads over to Timm’s house, and the two embrace while both being very drunk.
When Bix goes to the bed, Timm hesitates to go, likely thinking about turning in the man who is clearly important to his girlfriend. With all of this helpful information, and going behind the Chief Inspector’s back, Syrill Karn calls in a very militant task force sergeant, Linus Mosk, to lead a dozen men to Ferrix to apprehend Cassian Andor.
Karn agrees to suit up thanks to Mosk’s clear love of force and Galactic Empire fascism.
Andor season 1 episode 2: Cassian’s pain finds its roots
On his ship, Cassian finds the untraceable NS-9 Starpath unit that he plans to give to Bix. While picking up his blaster, he looks ready for the uphill challenge he has found himself in.
Back in the past on Kenari, Kassa has regrouped with the other kids right as they are about to explore the crashed ship. The leader, who Kassa is clearly enthralled by, starts moving toward the ship as the other Kenari warriors surround the crash site.
Audiences then witness the arrival of a mysterious but dignified man on Ferrix. In the morning and by the time Bix wakes up, Timm is awake and has been for a bit.
He is playing all lovey with Bix even though he clearly wants to tell her what he did. Cassian is continuing to pack up before he leaves with B2EMO trying to convince him to stay.
The man on the run does not listen to the droid and sends him back to Maarva before she gets suspicious. The flashback on Kenari continues with the leader continuing her voyage on the ship.
One of the soldiers, who the leader thought was dead, gets up and shoots her with his blaster. The rest of the Kenari warriors attack the soldier with blow darts before he collapses.
The warriors immediately check on their leader, but she has died. With his strong emotions for the leader, these events ignite a hatred within little Kassa.
Andor season 1 episode 2: A mysterious man looking for Cassian
Looking to ship something with discretion and immediacy, Cassian barters to get his package shipped out that day without any questions. While he waits, the workers talk about Kenari and how it was abandoned by the Empire after a mining incident, leaving no survivors.
On their voyage from their headquarters to Ferrix, Sergeant Mosk and Deputy Inspector Karn give speeches that both have a primary and sole purpose to bring in Cassian Andor, no matter the cost. The episode ends with the same mysterious and dignified man taking public transport into town on Ferrix.
On this bus-like ship, a local older man starts talking about how the whole infrastructure of this planet has changed, something the mysterious man clearly does not care about. He concludes his unwarranted conversation by saying if he can’t find what he is looking for here, he will not be able to find it anywhere.
As this occurs the camera pans out the window and finds Cassian, alluding that this mysterious man is looking for him.
Who is this mysterious man looking for Cassian Andor? How do you think Bix will react when she finds out Timm was the one who sold out Cassian?
