The seventh episode begins with Syril Karn in his mom’s home. It is the morning of his interview called in by his mother and Uncle Harlo.
As his maternal headache is ridiculing his choice of attire and insecurities, Karn hears the news report about the terror attack on Aldhani. Next, we see the Imperial Security Bureau where the agents are briefed about how they will respond and retaliate following this attack on the Empire.
Rather than Major Partagaz speaking to them, it is Colonel Wullf Yularen telling his underlings the draconian methods now encouraged. After the meeting, Agent Dedra Meero is talking with Attendant Heert about how she believes her supervisors are going about this all wrong.
She believes this is not just a robbery, but an announcement that the rebels have arrived and are ready.
Andor season 1 episode 7: Luthen is brutally honest with Mon
Luthen Rael is listening to his rebel radio about the fallout of Aldhani when Mon Mothma arrives. When they get privacy and since she knows Rael has been asking for funds, Mothma asks him about the attack.
He reminds the Senator that this was inevitable, so she has to accept this new reality or step aside. During his interview at the Bureau of Standards, Syril learns his new supervisor is on board with having his record expunged for what occurred on Morlana One.
The job he has to take, however, is a grunt office job and not out in the field. Arriving via transit, Kleya, Luthen’s assistant, walks through the city following markers on the ground.
They lead her to a dolled-up Vel, where they explain the plan going forward. Kleya tells Vel she must find Cassian Andor and kill him, so that he doesn’t track back to Luthen.
After leaving Vel, Cassian made his way back home to Ferrix where he is greeted by B2EMO and Maarva. They update the thief about the deceased Timm being the one turning him in and Bix trying to warn him.
Maarva also explains troopers are everywhere and that it is not safe for Cassian to stay. Cassian tries to tell them he has enough credits to go anywhere they want.
However, Maarva is tired and a little overwhelmed with all of this. Andor lets his adoptive mom rest as he leaves to go check on Bix.
Andor season 1 episode 7: Cassian returns home to an icy reception
Hosting a dinner party, Senator Mon Mothma is talking with her old childhood friend, Tay Kolma, who is a banker closer to their home system. Tay talks about how the people of Coruscant are blind to reality which is exactly what Mon needed to hear to entrust him.
Mon has Tay appointed to chair another one of her missions that irritate her colleagues but is actually a front for the rebels. She seals this deal by making allusions that the real Mon Mothma is much more politically extreme than Tay once thought.
Sneaking into Bix’s garage, Cassian gets time to talk with her, but she is not happy to see him. Bix explains Cass is being blamed for this Imperial occupation.
Once Andor tells Bix to pass on a message to Luthen and everyone to forget about him, he is gone as quickly as he arrived. While hiding from troopers, Cassian has a flashback to Clem trying to be a peacekeeper on Ferrix years ago.
This would lead to him being hanged in the town square, something that is still true to this point. Andor goes to pick up Maarva and B2EMO but she sternly explains they are not going.
She explains that following Aldhani she has a new passion for the rebellion. After years of avoiding her husband’s body in the town square, she was able to proudly walk past it knowing he was a brave hero and rebel.
Maarva explains to Cass that she is sticking it out to fight on Ferrix.
Andor season 1 episode 7: Dedra Meero shows initiative
At a full staff meeting, Major Partagaz is being briefed on the updates of the galaxy. Supervisor Blevin speaks up and accuses Supervisor Meero of disregarding protocol to gain access to everyone’s archives.
Meero does not deny this, and it actually gains her points in the eyes of Partagaz. Following the meeting, privately the Major compliments Meero’s endeavor but warns her to watch out for retaliation.
The episode ends on the tropical planet of Niamos where Cassian is hiding out under the alias of Keef Girgan. While walking on the shore, some thieves are being chased by troopers.
Cassiant tries to walk away but a shoretrooper notices him looking around and apprehends him. This apprehension leads “Keef” being charged with a rapsheet of fake and arbitrary offenses that, because of the new Imperial guidelines, is a six-year imprisonment sentence.
How do you think Cassian will be able to escape his imprisonment? Do you think Maarva and Bix know more about the rebellion than they lead on?
Will Syril Karn be able to stay in his office job? Let us know your answers and opinions in the comments below!
