When James is not allowed to order food from the Kids menu, he takes matters into his own hands. The Oddballs season 1 finale reveals if cloning dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets are worth the risk.

Oddballs Season 1 Episode 12 recap – The Kids Menu

Foodball Joe’s is reopening! James, Max, and Echo decide to stop in and get something to eat.

However, the food James wants to eat, the Dino Nuggets, are from the Kids menu. Since he is over 10 years old he cannot order from the Kids menu.

This devastates James and he proceeds to go on a tirade that age restrictions on foods are asinine. The trio leave defeated when Echo thinks of an idea.

She bribes a girl scout to buy them a 12 pack of Dino Nuggets. However, the girl scout eats all of them except for one.

This isn’t an issue as James already has the perfect solution to solve their problem.

Oddballs Season 1 Episode 12 recap – Cloning gone wrong

At the lab, James decides to clone the Dino Nugget. But when he does, the clones are alive!

It seems Max’s salvia got on them and when cloned, they became living creatures. These adorable little Dino Nuggets soon grow in size and chase the trio hoping to eat them!

The trio run back to Foodball Joe’s and we get an almost exact reenactment of that classic kitchen scene from Jurassic Park. Running out of ideas as to how to kill the Dino Nuggets, James realizes they need to recreate the destruction of the dinosaurs.

Joe makes one of his famous pizza balls and loads it into his food processing gun. James shoots it into space.

Upon its descent back to Earth it becomes a fireball and kills the Dino Nuggets.

The trio can now enjoy Dino Nuggets without the fear of getting eaten by them. As they enjoy them Max makes a comment to James about his terrible food ideas.

When Echo asks for them to elaborate further, they mention their son, Toasty. Echo immediately freaks out.

Toasty, or Emperor Toasty, is the one behind her horrid future where food sucks. James however doesn’t seem entirely convinced, even when she tells him Toasty destroys his maker.

No, he believes everything will work itself out. The episode concludes with Toasty arriving to the bread factory as he intended to at the end of episode 1.

Oddballs Season 1 Episode 12 review

Let’s take a moment and be honest. Why does it matter if a grown adult wants to order something from the Kids menu?

It’s a funny question that makes you truly wonder. As a season finale this episode delivers a pretty good story.

Of course, we all knew cloning was going to be a bad idea but as predictable as it was, it was very unpredictable. Especially the ending.

I was hoping that Toasty’s return would somehow come back during this season. What I wasn’t expecting was that he becomes the reason Echo’s future has a horrible food situation.

It makes me wonder if Toasty’s revenge or plot to begin his takeover as Emperor Toasty will begin in season 2 or if that is something planned for possibly a later season. Will James be able to prevent Toasty from ruling the world as Emperor Toasty?

Can Toasty be saved and transformed back into the adorable baby it once was? We’ll have to speculate for now as a season 2 has yet to be confirmed or denied.

Overall, I enjoyed Oddballs probably more than I thought I would. I was worried it wouldn’t be funny or pleasing to watch.

I can often be picky when it comes to certain animation styles. For what it’s worth, it was a fun, and odd cartoon comedy that was easy to watch and enjoy.
