HBO Max releases date early for The Last of Us
By Shay McBryde
This Tuesday morning had everyone looking forward to the premiere of The Last of Us. What they got was an unexpected surprise!
Many were predicting a release date towards the latter half of 2023. However, the HBO Max app has listed the release date of the highly anticipated show for January 15.
A senior source told videogameschronicle.com that the date is correct and was revealed earlier than planned out of an error. The news blew up on Twitter as fans spread the word quickly.
A senior source added that the official release date will come out to the public at a later time this week. Meanwhile, fans couldn’t be more anxious as this will be a great gift to all right after the holidays.
The Last of Us tells the story of Ellie and Joel surviving in an apocalyptic world. The series will star The Mandalorian’s Pedro Pascal and Game of Thrones Bella Ramsey.
The series will highlight Joel, a smuggler escorting the young Ellie across the United States in a world full of zombies in an apocalyptic universe. It will take place 20 years after the infection hit.
While some events will be much like the game, creator Neil Druckmann has warned that there will be many new aspects to the show as well. Much like The Walking Dead strayed away from the comics.
I find it much more exciting to have surprises rather than knowing every step and every turn. On a platform like HBO, the show is sure to be a success especially considering many fans of The Walking Dead will be looking for another apocalyptic drama to sink into, once the AMC series concludes later this month.
