How do you know that Stranger Things is one of the biggest television shows in the world right now? Because we just got the first look at the fifth season and everybody’s trying to figure out exactly what it means.

The first episode of Stranger Things Season 5…

On November 6th, the official Stranger Things Twitter account posted a picture of the script for the first episode of season 5. Why November 6th you ask?

Well, because in the season 1, Will went missing on November 6th, 1983. The creators have been referring to November 6th as Stranger Things Day.

The picture of the script was obviously set up to make sure that it didn’t’ reveal any information that the crew wasn’t ready to give away yet. But that didn’t stop the legions of Stranger Things fans from trying to decipher every little bit of information to see if anything new could be uncovered.

All that has actually been revealed is the title of the first episode of season 5, “Chapter One: The Crawl.” It seems that the fifth season will be setting the chapter count back to one.

Though this is no surprise since each new season of the show starts back over with “Chapter One” for their first episode. So that just leaves us with the title, “The Crawl.”

We have two words to speculate on, to try and figure out everything we can about the last season of Stranger Things.

What does the title mean?

Given that the last season ended with The Upside Down invading the town of Hawkins, it’s possible that The Crawl could be referring to the horrors of The Upside Down crawling out and into our world. Given that we ended the fourth season with Max still comatose, the title could be referring to her having to crawl from wherever her consciousness currently is, back to her friends.

Perhaps the horrors that were unleashed in the last season will require the four boys to make a long, slow, difficult trip across a very dangerous territory, something that could be referred to as a crawl. Any of these options are possible, but we have no reason to suspect that any of them are very likely.

Most likely the title is referring to something that we have no idea about yet. So far, the title for the first episode of each new season refers to something or someone new being introduced in that episode.

Chapter One of the second season is called “MADMAX,” a reference to the character of Max, who is introduced for the first time. Chapter One of the third season is called “Susie, Do You Copy?”, a reference to the Russian radio signal that Dustin intercepts when trying to contact his long-distance girlfriend, while also kicking off the plot of the entire third season.

The first episode of the fourth season is called “The Hellfire Club,” where we learn about the club for the first time in that episode. So, chances are, we won’t know what “The Crawl” is referring to until we finally get a chance to start binging season five.
