The Daryl Dixon show adds Clemence Poesy and Adam Nagaitis
By Shay McBryde
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon spinoff has some big casting news. Deadline reported that Clemence Poesy and Chernobyl’s Adam Nagaitis will be starring alongside Norman Reedus in his solo spinoff series.
Each will have leading roles in the French embodiment of The Walking Dead. Poesy will be playing “Isabelle, a member of a progressive religious group, who joins forces with Daryl (Reedus) on a journey across France and finds herself confronting her dark past in Paris.”
Nagaitis plays “Quinn, a displaced Brit who has become powerful in post-apocalyptic Paris as a black marketeer and the owner of the Demimonde, a sexy underground nightclub.” Poesy is most notably known for her role of Fleur Delacour in the Harry Potter films, War and Peace, and The Tunnel.
Her most recent role is as Stella Ransome in The Essex Serpent. She has a long resume of work which will make it interesting to see how she meshes with Norman Reedus.
Nagaitis is best known for the HBO miniseries Chernobyl and AMC’s The Terror. His latest films were The Last Duel and Gunpowder Milkshake.
His last television role was portraying Rick Bennett in Red Rose.
How will Daryl Dixon fit in France?
As some of the main cast is rounded out, this is the most we have learned about the Daryl Dixon spinoff. The series has already gotten backlash and fans are already unsure what to make of Daryl, of all people, in France.
While Norman Reedus it hyped for the spinoff, most fans are still puzzled how this will work. We know that Daryl will be reinventing himself in a world so far from home.
How he gets to France isn’t completely known, but even that in itself sounds very far-fetched in a post-apocalyptic world. If that wasn’t enough, what has been known from the beginning is Daryl’s lack of a romantic life.
The only person he has ever had beyond a friendship with was Leah. And even that we did not get to see on air.
We have never even seen Daryl kiss a woman. Now he will be connected in some way to a sex nightclub, where we will see worlds collide.
Now that we are seeing a whole new Dixon, we might not even recognize the one of the past. When the news hit, Twitter fans were not too pleased to hear about a lead female joining Dixon throughout his journey.
When the news of Melissa McBride’s exit arrived back in April, it jolted her very large fanbase. Though everybody has had time now to deal with that, it still hits hard to see another lead female actress on a side by side with journey with Daryl.
Some see it as a replacement, others don’t. But for fans of the legendary actress that is how it’s felt.
She was unable to be in the spinoff because of changes so she had to be replaced by another actress. Now the once lone archer will be on an adventure with another, regardless of how much the original story changed.
We do wish Poesy all the best. She’s a great actress with an incredible resume but the absence of Melissa McBride will always loom over this spinoff.
On Tuesday, there was a big push back from Norman Reedus against Forbes writer Paul Tassi. He too was upset that Carol is not in this spinoff.
He made a tweet, not being negative or comedic, just simply stating what was happening.
Norman Reedus decided to call this tweet for misinformation. Something that is no surprise to fans or new for the actor.

It should be stated that Tassi is not just some random Carol and Daryl fan. The general audience is picking fun of the spinoff left and right.
It does seem silly to see Daryl Dixon in this type of environment but it’s also what could make the show very entertaining. However, it should go noted that many general fans are saying the exact same thing.
It’s not a shipping or Caryl thing, it’s something that is commonly repeated. The problem here is not letting fans feel what they want to feel.
Regardless of how much Reedus or any journalist tries to step in and say it’s not a replacement, some fans will always feel the opposite. If what you love about The Walking Dead fanbase is the passionate fans, then you cannot complain when they are doing so.
But nobody’s saying it won’t be successful without McBride. She is simply someone that is irreplaceable, so it won’t be the same.
