One of the break-out shows from the Disney+ era of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was unsurprisingly led by one of the biggest break-out stars from the franchise. Just like the first season, Loki season 2 looks to continue this trend of success.

Following weeks since they announced filming for season 2 had begun, fans have now been granted their first look at the sophomore season for the Norse god of mischief.

Loki Season 2: First look at the upcoming season

In a trailer for Disney+, where they looked at all of the movies, shows, and shorts coming to the platform, Tom Hiddleston’s titular character receives a nice spotlight as the narrator. With the sultry voice playing, onlookers caught some quick glimpses of what they can expect to see in the coming season.

In these brief snippets of scenes, viewers see the mischievous god getting into trouble with the Time Variance Authority, while also interacting with his old TVA pal Mobius M. Mobius. Fans would also get their first glance at Sophie, with the Loki variant listening to some vinyl records.

What does this mean? How is it all connected?

Only time will tell.

Loki season 2: What’s been going on?

Helmed by Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, and Sophia Di Martino, Loki looks at an alternate timeline following Thor’s brother’s escape during the events of Avengers: Endgame. Here, Loki becomes an asset for the TVA, an institution that preserves the main timeline at any cost.

At the end of season 1, fans witnessed the breaking of the multiverse, something that would be explained in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and how a variant of He Who Remains is now leading the TVA, identified as the one and only, Kang the Conqueror.

Last we saw, Loki was the only person who remembered the timeline before the dastardly Kang took over control of the TVA. So this will be an uphill battle for the son of Jotunheim.

Although no release date has been announced, the plans right now are for Loki season 2 to premiere in mid-2023.
