Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight season 2, episode 6 recap

In Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight season 2 episode 6, “Hide the Lightening”, Po and the group try to uncover the identity of The Protector, while Po’s father struggles to keep his darkest secret hidden from his son. But will Rukmini uncover the truth?

Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight Season 2 Episode 6 recap – The Protector

Po and the group offer to help the frogs remove the empty monster machine from the pit. They struggle to carry it to a village where the frog’s brother can take a look at it.

The village also happens to be where the group suspects The Protector and wielder of the storm wheels weapon is hiding. The frog’s brother tells them how he was saved but can’t provide a lot of details.

Wandering Blade decides to make it her personal mission to find The Protector. So, she rather aggressively and Po rather kindly, begin asking the residents.

Unfortunately, none of the stories match up. Some say they are a female, others say male.

Some say The Protector can fly, others say otherwise. One thing that remains consistent is that whenever The Protector is around helping, they always steal some sort of food or drink.

Instead of getting frustrated, Po suggests they set a trap, definitely not a play, for The Protector. Po and Rukmini pretend to be fleeing from the useless empty monster machine, while Wandering Blade and Po’s father try to steer it.

They begin losing control but thankfully The Protector arrives. The trouble is they are fast and powerful with the weapon.

Po is able to get the upper hand for a brief moment, but it seems the weapon would not work for him. It’s almost as though the weapon is powered by another force from the sky, that creates the lightning and storms to form whenever the storm wheels are being used.

The Protector manages to run into a stadium where a game is about to be played. However, the group cannot tell where he or she is hiding.

During their search for The Protector, Po’s father, Mr. Ping often makes suggestions about what to do. However, his suggestions sound like ideas that pirates would have.

Rukmini pays close attention to this until finally she has a moment alone with him. Mr. Ping finally confesses that he used to be a pirate who faked his own death, so he could return home.

When he returned home, he opened his noodle shop and left the past behind him. However, if the crew ever found out, he knew that everyone he cared about would be in danger.

He begs Rukmini not to tell Po and she agrees. What Mr. Ping doesn’t know is that the Pirate Queen Forouzan is on her way to him after finally learning of his whereabouts all these years later.

Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight Season 2 Episode 6 recap – Wandering Blade’s Struggle

The lack of answers begins to anger Wandering Blade to the point where she wants to give up. She’s becoming stressed as they need to obtain the weapons before Klaus and Veruca do.

Ever the supportive friend, Po assures her that they will figure out who The Protector is. He even adds new rules to their version of a knight’s code book for good measure.

The gesture calms her down and they regroup. Upon regrouping they know that The Protector has to be in the stadium.

They keep watchful eyes on the food and drink stands, when the leader appears at the top of the pyramid. Po notices that she’s digging a banana into chocolate and remembers one of the townspeople saying The Protector stole that exact dish.

The episode ends with the group believing the leader could be The Protector who is surrounded by a multitude of guards.

Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight Season 2 Episode 6 review

The leader is probably not The Protector; however, I have a feeling there may be more than one person wielding the storm wheels. How could all these stories be so similar and yet so different?

Even though The Protector we’ve seen looks the same, I have a feeling The Protector is a role passed around to several members. That or The Protector is some sort of shape shifter.

I’m glad we get a little clarity into how Mr. Ping knows the Pirate Queen Forouzan however I still hope this side plot won’t hijack the remainder of the series. Admittedly, the storm wheels look to be the coolest Tianshang weapon by far! It will be fun to see who in the group gets to obtain and use it!

I’m hoping that we’ll get The Protector reveal in the next episode. And maybe get to see Colin again.
