Season 2 of Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight is coming to a thrilling and unexpected close that perhaps no one will see coming. In episode 10 “Apok-ta-pokalypse Now Part 1” Wandering Blade finally finds closure and Po becomes possessed by Master Mastodon.

How did this happen? Why did this happen?

Let’s find out!

Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight Season 2 Episode 10 recap – Is Queen Zuma the new villain?

It doesn’t take long for Queen Zuma to fall in love with the three Tianshang weapons she now possesses. As she tries them out, the group decides to rebuild the scorpion monsters.

Only this time, they will be made of rubber to prevent the lightning attacks of the storm wheel. The group is able to create a successful amount of rubber scorpion monsters, however they know it won’t be enough.

Master Mastodon, still possessing Mr. Ping, reassures everyone that he may be able to control the element the storm wheel is attached to. In his case, the weather and lightning.

But if he fails, Po’s father might not survive.

Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight Season 2 Episode 10 recap – Wandering Blade vs Klaus and Veruca

As Po and the group prepare for battle against Queen Zuma, Wandering Blade makes her way to the wrecked ship looking for Klaus and Veruca. She finds a wounded Veruca while Kalus is searching for plants to make a healing potion.

Upon his return, he spots Wandering Blade and the two send her on the defensive. Veruca refuses to drink the potion just yet, wanting to deal with Wandering Blade first.

She tries to guilt trip Wandering Blade, reminding her of how it was her fault that her brother died. But since then, she has been training for this moment.

Wandering Blade is confident she can win. Sure enough, she gets the upper hand on Klaus, threatening to kill him but Veruca doesn’t care.

She leaves her brother behind in order to escape. Realizing that Veruca has been the real threat all along, Wandering Blade lets Klaus go.

Klaus is left behind, shocked that Veruca abandoned him.

Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight Season 2 Episode 10 recap – Master Mastodon vs Po

Worried about the fate of his father, Po seeks Master Mastodon while he is trying to reconnect to the weather to control it. He’s struggling to do so and doesn’t need distractions.

Hoping to save his father and give the group an upper hand against Queen Zuma, Po asks Master Mastodon to train him. Master Mastodon refuses, claiming it will take too long and they don’t have much time.

Unhappy with the answer, Po continually bothers Master Mastodon until the two actually begin fighting. Po realizes that Master Mastodon is able to reconnect to the weather in fits of rage while fighting, not peace and quiet.

Po mistakenly attacks Master Mastodon with such force that his spirit is literally kicked out of Mr. Ping’s body. Po and Mr. Ping are happy to be reunited without Master Mastodon’s possession but that means the group has lost the one person truly strong enough to battle Queen Zuma.

But the episode once again ends on a rather chilling twist. After Wandering Blade returns to the group, Po tries to fill her in on what’s been happening.

It turns out Master Mastodon has chosen to possess Po!

Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight Season 2 Episode 10 review

Klaus and Veruca’s fallout was a long time coming, and I am now genuinely curious if he will choose to aid Po and the group against her. The entire scene was so well written and acted!

It was equally amazing to watch Wandering Blade’s growth. She had been struggling all season long and now she’s come to terms with everything, including herself.

Letting Klaus go wasn’t a mistake but the right call. He’s not the threat, Veruca is.

Hopefully Wandering Blade won’t be distracted by self-doubt and guilt anymore. Making Queen Zuma the new villain is still an interesting twist.

We don’t see much of her in this episode; however, we can see that she’s getting mighty used to wielding the weapons. She may be more difficult to fight than anyone expects.

While I assumed Master Mastodon would return to help in the battle against Queen Zuma, him possessing Po instead was unexpected. Was it on purpose or by accident?

Will this season end on another cliffhanger and if so, will it get renewed for another season?
